Fine, but not as fine as it once was. Illegal immigrants have taken over parts of town, women can't shop at some stores because they get harassed by the illegals hanging out and looking for day work. Beggars are being bus'ed in from somewhere to beg at major intersections. On the good side, the schools are still good, most neighborhoods are still safe and stable, and people get along pretty well.

I may have said this before but local wisdom says the City Council caused more damage than the German bombing ever did.

I kinda like it (judging from this one photo)
It has some good post-apocalyptic 'abandoned places' quality (i know most people would see that as a negative, but most people have no taste anyway

Also, it is at least not boring.

What they have in common is that both cities were heavily bombed and these buildings were part of post war regeneration when concrete was king and brutalist architecture admired.

As someone who admires brutalist architecture, I think the hotel looks cool but it's by no means brutalism's finest example. Why do people think that brutalist architecture is ugly? How do they define ugly? There are many ugly looking brutalist buildings but the entire movement once stood for modernism, rationalism and progress. Nowdays it seems like everyone wants to live in a multi-colored paper box.
