Evan Fontaine Asks Million of Whitney In Saratoga Suit for Breach of Promise
August 13, 1922, Sunday
SARATOGA SPRINGS, Aug. 12.--A breach of promise action for $1,000,000 has beon brought by Evan Burrows Fontaine, a dancer, against Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, son of Harry Payne Whitney, according to Charles Firestone of New York, attorney for Miss Fontaine, who today asked Judge Dorst in Special Term to compel the defendant to accept service of the complaint.

London Times, August 15, 1922:
"Millionaire's Son Sued
New York, Aug 13
Miss Fontaine, a well-known Oriental dancer, is suing Mr Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, son of Mr Harry Payne Whitney and grandson of Mr Cornelius Vanderbilt, for alleged breach of promise, claiming £ 250,000 damages"
