That's Elizabeth Berkely but, was it a matter of how far she went with nudity or was her disapearence based on how talented she is? Other actresses have shown plenty yet still continued with fine careers. Berkely certainly didnt lose favor because she was unatractive. An interesting wiki on what she's done since then and what critics have had to say.

There are some actresses who, frankly, look better with their clothes on. Neve Campbell and Jodie Foster are two who spring to mind. Someone mentioned in an earlier post actresses who strip off early in their careers then ease up on it. How about the flip side of that, women who won't strip when they're young then, around forty, start taking it off? What, when you're younger it's "titilation" but when you're older it's "artistic"?

And consider Jennifer Connolly, who did some pretty explicit sex & skin scenes earlier in her career (wearing far too much makeup), when she mostly served as decoration.
But after having the inevitable illigitimate baby by her boyfriend, strangely enough, she got much better as an actress. Maybe it was the roles, but she seemed to get deeper, more convincing.
And didn't she get an award a few years ago?

It is evident that an actress of great talent and reputation is not going to lend for a nude that ridicules her and sinks it. It does not depend, so, on the nude in yes, but on the attitude of the actress.

Many actresses would argue that they wouldn't have a career unless at some point they'd agreed to strip for the camera - even when they hadn't felt particularly comfortable with the idea. There are examples also of once established actresses who have agreed to strip in an attempt to resurrect or re-invigorate a career that had fallen into decline - a bit like softcore glamour models who move into hardcore because the alternative is to have no career at all.

We've all seen countless examples of scripts (even good scripts) which throw in the odd scene of gratuitous nudity purely for the sake of attracting a bigger audience - and it tends to be the actress rather than the actor who's required to do the deed. One only has to search some of the threads on this forum to see how most of the interest shown in certain actresses is not for their talent or ability, but merely their physical appeal and their willingness to get their kits off.

I don't want to sound like a hypocrite on this issue, because I too am often torn between wanting to appreciate an actress for her ability and the desire to see her get her tits out.

Joanna Lumley was a Bond girl: didn't hurt her a bit. Ursula Andress didn't do too badly out of it. Diana Rigg seems to have kept busy...

But by and large you're right Mal: most Bond girls you've never heard of before and you never hear of again.
