Horrors of late capitalism
I dedicate this thread to the absurdities of our time. You can post anything that makes you cringe or laugh in an era of pathological escapism and alienation from reality. Unfortunately it appears like the internet is only speeding up this process. Let me start with an example: the non-binary phenomenon. These are people (usually pubertal kids) who refuse to identify with a gender. Apparently coming out as gay or transgender is no longer sensationalist enough. It does not satisfy the needs of the modern "I'm so different from everyone else" attention seeker. Homosexuality and transsexuality are real but this non-binary crap is just a fashion trend among spoiled brats who spend way too much time on Tumblr and similar "social" platforms.
Take a look at this snowflake. Now I consider myself an open-minded and tolerant person but I'm not tolerant to endless stupidity. |

I'm frustrated with this time, I wish I was born in the middle of last century! I have mental relief in this forum, without this place I'd end up in the asylum fo sure.

It's ironic that progressives go on and on about how climate-change "deniers" refuse to acknowledge science, but when it comes to simple biology, science goes right out the window.

The usual cure-all for this sort of madness is a World War and a return to basic values
Nuclear, biological and chemical weapons have negated this option for some time so the weirdness has intensified. There might come a time in the future where one of the above becomes an option just because society in general feels a violent response is needed to safeguard "average" folks.

I too was born in the middle of the last century - 1955. I believe I was born at the right time... Most things are far better than that experienced by my parents generation. I had a good standard of education - including many practical subjects - provided free by the state. At the time I left school there was no problems getting a meaningful job with good promotion prospects. I went through my chosen profession seeing many fantastic innovations, developments and changes to the working practices that made firefighting safer. This at a time when buildings were incorporating many safety features making the job easier and safer still. Setting up home was easier - houses were cheap by comparison to today. I didn't have to go through the prospects of "national service" and I have not fought - or experienced first hand - a war. My salary throughout my working life, whilst not spectacular, enabled me to have good standard of living, drive a nice car, buy my own home and provide for my old age by contributing to a pension scheme. I certainly wouldn't want to be "young" today.. The pressures faced by many must be difficult to live with. I often wonder what life will be like for todays kids fifty years down the line. Admittedly, a lot of this pressure is caused by todays ridiculous attitudes provided by social media - there is lot of peer pressure to contend with. To me, in my sixties, I can dismiss such stuff as irrelevant crap but it isn't that easy for todays kids who have a need to fit in.. |

But we all know that you are born in a country where men were used to wear a skirt. That probably explains a lot of things.
