Freddie Mercury!!!
Though he wasn't mentioned in your list above, I think the loss of Duane Allman has been the one I have missed the most. He was quite simply the best slide guitarist that I have ever heard. His prowess on this instrument affected all of those who followed. Given enough life and time, He could have been the best overall guitarist in Rock n' Roll.

I think it was a shame about Superman actor Christopher Reeve.

19 September 2010 José Antonio Labordeta is dead.

Surely none of you knew him. He was a singer, teacher, politician, ... from Zaragoza (Aragon).
As a songwriter he created the song that a majority believes should be the anthem of Aragon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i15eFc_BCu4
As a teacher, was respected by his students (including a famous radical journalist opposed to his own ideas) as one of the best.
As a politician, even if it seems impossible, was one of the few who proved to be honest (perhaps for that reason he left his seat in parliament)
A great person.

Good bye.

Robert Moore, Tommy Cooper, Terry Kath and Marilyn Monroe.

A strange quartet, but taken far too early.

Sad days.

What about rock's "27" club: Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain? All dead at 27 without fulfilling their potential. Or Buddy Holly and Richie Valens?

On another plane, I miss the sports reporter/analyst/raconteur Dick Schaap. He may have been the only person ever eligible to vote for the Heisman Trophy and the Tonys.

Salut !
I love Dali. His work is simply brilliant and much too extensive to be briefly discussed. The symbolism of his surrealist paintings is again and again interesting and reminds me in it's kind very much to another of my favorite painters, Albrecht Dürer. However, i must admit that i'm just an art interested layman. If i have enough time i will visit the museum in his home town Figueres.
