Hope to go and see Rogue One this December and I noticed that another remake BEN-HUR is out soon. Not sure why filmmakers want to remake classics, you can never recreate the drama. It looks like the mooted remake of The Dam Busters has also been put on hold, as Stephen Fry was supposed to be writing the screenplay but hasn't mentioned it for two years now. I personally hope they don't make it, the original stands the test of time.

You can rarely recreated the SAME drama as the original, that is why remakes need to do more unique & different things to create their own drama that is impactful in its own level.
The Robocop remake for example gave us the lead but with his mental capacity completely intact unlike in the original which made his bodily destruction arguably even more gut punchingly emotionally impactful.

Westworld - supposed to be a contender for the next big breakout cable program..

I'm curious to see how this plays out - only a low level Cabinet member is left to lead the country after a devastating attack .

Pitch

A female pitcher makes it to the Major Leagues - for the Padres! So this will be interesting on two levels for me: how good does she play, and how much of San Diego will be shown?

Paramount has pussy-ed the fuck out of making another Friday the 13th reboot after Rings did poorly money wise and World War Z 2 has been put on Indefinite hiatus.

David Gordon Green will direct/write a fresh Halloween sequel to 1981's Halloween 2. Danny Mcbride will co write, they have promised they will not be adding any comedic aspect to it which is their traditional territory.
John Carpenter has given his seal of approval on their pitch and will be producing & has stated he is considering scoring it.

Stranger Things's Millie Bobby Brown, Super 8's Kyle Chandler & Vera Farmiga will star in Godzilla - King of Monsters directed by Michael Dougherty (Trick 'r Treat / Krampus).
It will be a sequel to both Kong Skull Island & the 2014 Godzilla.
