Kevin here. When I was young my parents were always telling my brothers and I that if we dug a hole and kept on digging we should end up in China. Off course that's stupid, and now there is a website that you can go to where you can put your location in and it will tell you where you will end up if you dig to the other side of the planet. I tried it using various locations in Australia, and guess what. If you could dig from anywhere in aussieland you would not only not reach China but no other land mass either. You would end up in various locations in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean!

Sovereign Hill was set up for a walk back into 1850's colonial Victoria, even before Australia was a nation. Ballarat was at the center of the gold rush and had by far the most gold. I think Victoria is 3rd on the list for most gold found / mined throughout the world. There's still gold there but far too deep for a prospector to mine, anything else is for the mining companies who could afford the expense.

Yesterday afternoon we went to the tennis, great day out was very warm to hot but the sun was a killer, came home and must have drank 3 litres of Staminade before I went to bed.
