Every so often, a member here will start a thread, and a good one that takes off, then along comes a member who literally kills it and even in long established threads,

First off- this seems to apply to them all, they are each carbon copies of each other,

Anchors, Why do they need 2 people to do one job?
my old boss used to say, "If I see two of you together, I can do without one of ya" and he's right

Is it simply coz they are afraid of sexist accusations?

I rekon so

"Now we are going down to a reporter who is stood roadside outside of an event they have no sight of , while someone in the studio(with access to information) asks them for the latest developments"

They inevitably end by giving the reporter an update (appearing smug) and it's back to the studio ...

For the Weather (a bugbear deserving of its own rant)
Why does it have to be Every Hour just before the re-cap of headlines?
Do they imagine we have no window at home?
What's that sweeping camera cost to do the move across the studio towards the weather corner where they have another bank of technology to project a map behind the weather-bod
at night , we all know it's on a tape recorded earlier but they try to pass it off as the latest information

aaargh, I'm stopping before I meltdown into a full on rant!

It so they can have friendly banter between them. Believe it or not often the reason people will choose a particular newscast is because they like the anchors. People don't like a lone individual who just tells them news (mostly bad news because that's what people tune in for) and a lone anchor doesn't provide as much "AWWWW" factor for the cute animal stories.
