What another Parking fine?

Darwin averages around 30 degrees celsius in winter and all the babes wear bikinis, virtually all year 'round. I'll wager our meter maids have a better uniform? Have a couple of friends that ventured to England many years ago. One of the first things they said was no matter where you in the English countryside you can see a road. I'd find that disturbing, but then maybe that's just me? |

Why let the truth get in the way of a good story?
I must admit I sorta stretched the truth a little
I'm in Australia's southern most state, which as recently as the 1970's still had vast areas of unexplored regions in the South West of the island. The climate is probably not unlike England, although it doesn't snow in most areas aside from a few mountain tops. A lot of english tourists feel at home here. Unfortunately we get mosquitos too, but not in any large numbers, and in some areas (the West coast) March flies, which bite. But mostly (particularly at the moment) we get rain. Lots of rain. Which for Australia may not be a bad thing! Ideallicly I should spend winters in the north, where you can still comfortably swim in the ocean in winter, but then it gets unbearably hot in Summer. This should be in Grand Gardener GreenSkulls other thread! I also stretched the truth about the meter maids. They were hired by the Gold Coast council sometime in the sixties as a tourism promotion, to put money into parking meters. http://www.metermaids.com/index.htm So far as I know they're still there, but are outnumbered by the evil kind. You can't say I'm not attempting to do my bit for tourism It maybe just me. |

Is it just me
Or are all our politicians exactly the same ?. Sure some have been to private school some public , but that blip of a difference aside they`re all bullshitting sacks. Have just watched some conservative shadow home secretary or something (Don`t know who as i wasn`t staring ) going on about the soaring crime levels , yob culture and the absence of law and order in the country. As i say don`t know who he was but his head was bald and he seemed to have donated his chin to charity. Anyway he started reeling off , i mean reading off a list of dastardly crimes each one worse than the first. My point is the man didn`t so much as flush a cheek or raise his voice above the monotone , in fact there wasn`t a flicker of emotion. Great eh , really passionate about his mission , job erm current placement isn`t he. Sort of fills you with passion yourself doesn`t it. Not to mention how reassuring it is to know there`s stalwart war horses like old chinless riding over the rotting hill to this nations rescue
They`re all the same , all of them career politicians . Ones who'd rather pass a paving slab sized kidney stone than partake of an actual grafting bit of real work. Unless that is you call lying work ?, in which case they`re performing a 24 - 7 job Brown double talks and in a sideways manner let`s us know the previous good times are over ,and that now it`s time for a sharp intake of breath and tightening of budgets. Yeah this from the super prudent man who on average borrowed 28 billion a month for the last eleven years , and hey while i`m at it what bloody good times Hah while Cameron talks of austerity living , then pisses off for a glass of champagne alongside his heiress missus And Clegg ?, well he does his best and tries not to exhaust himself by ever walking and talking at the same time "We`re ALL doomed "

Absolutely. They try to con the electorate about having different policies or agendas, but when you study them they are all, basically, the same.
For example. What are their policies, if any, towards the legalisation of adult pornography and adult prostitution? They all hold exactly the same view which is they are all against it. What are their policies towards the excesses of commercial greed? Again, all the same - they would deny that there is commercial greed. |

Peter Gar rat
Quote:
I had hoped that when Peter Garret gained acceptance into the Australian Labour Party that he may have shaken things up, at least a little. Mr. Garret was formerly an environmentalist singer for Protesting rock band "Midnight Oil" who in the eighties were no strangers to controversy, once playing on the streets outside the Exxon building in New york protesting the disaster at Prince William Sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1HWripf6zE among many other protest actions. So far he's towed the party line, done a couple of backflips and angered a few that voted for him in doing so. While it appears he may have crossed over to the dark side I'm hoping that one day soon someone will play him some "Oil's" and he'll remember his agenda. Instant Karma http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5xG-...1&feature=fvwp |

Well we could try and fool the all knowing system by applying for multiple voting cards , of course that would mean we`d have to use multiple names. Still i ask you what sort of person would do such a thing , i mean surely they`d be immediately spotted right ?

Ironically Paddy Ashdown said it best. All the modern politicians come fresh out of college or uni and seeks out politics as a career with zero life experience. They have all these great ideas you get when you are young and cant understand why they dont bloody work as they try to hammer them through.
People shouldnt enter politics unless they have worked with the rest of us for 20 years. Then they know what its all about. |

My previous post was more of an in joke (Case anybody else get`s confused ) , but as always i appreciate the thanks fellow respected members
So what can we do with the system we`ve got Well we can refuse to swallow what we`re told and be prepared to question , and question vocally . We can badger our representatives , or do any number of obvious legal methods that you already know about Although if it`s illegal matters we`re talking about .......................
