Question Is it just me

Thought that`d be a good intro into well anything anyone wants to say really ,as hopefully a way to reduce those killer stress levels .But if it isn`t don`t blame me blame my still half cut brain (I've mistakenly thought it Monday twice today) , Now then

"Is it just me " or is the new Minder utter and total crap

Bad enough 5 has made such rubbish anyway, what with No-Shame Richie and the like. But to use the same Name of a total televisual classic is unforgivable and on such a weak premise , hell they even bastardized the original theme tune ?.

For those that don`t know what i`m going on about here`s a clue

Proper Minder
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN9XzC6ChuE

Proper Shite
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cnBklMP62TE

Why bother ?, i mean is anyone out there actually watching this garbage

Is it just me, or is TV in general absolutly crap, there is not one show on TV that I would make an effort to watch (ok maybe Oz Clarke & James May) I spend more time flicking through 200+ channels of shite trying to find somthing to watch than I do watching stuff.

I do a search through my channel guide to find any shows I might like. This way I am not left looking for something to watch. PLUS I can fast forward through the commercials. If nothing is on then I have a ton (almost literally) of movies and series I can watch.

There are still some decent programme series.I confine my viewing primarily to watching sport and BBC2/4 when they have their wildlife series and various documentaries and the Promenade concerts.

I have my own enormous personal library of blu rays so avoid all the Sky/Netflix nonsense as well considering most of the films they show to be completely trite.

I also like watching Countryfile quite apart from the fact the rather lovely, well spoken and intelligent Ellie Harrison is on it.

BBC4 have produced some great series recently and you can catch some on Youtube.

These include Sound of Cinema: The Music that Made the Movies, Horror Europa, Dan Snows History of Locomotion, Dreaming the Impossible: Unbuilt Britain etc etc.

Jago Cooper has a forthcoming series on the Lost Kingdoms of Central America in follow up to those of South America. Alistair Sooke has done excellent series on the Art of Rome and Egypt, Dr.Lucy Worsley various series on culture, fashion and society over the centuries. Andrew Graham-Dixon with his Art of the Low Countries/Russia/ Germany/Italy and recently China.

Dr.Michael Mosley with various series on medicine and the history of science, Simon Beale on the symphony and the reqiuem.

All these presenters and several others are great communicators with a great knowledge of their subject.

They also revive classic documentaries from the past such as the late Robertl Hughes The Shock of the New and great dramas such as I,Claudius.

For me it is the best channel there is.

Unless you're restricted to only watching TV (in the UK) on Freeview or Freesat, there really is no excuse for moaning that "there's nothing to watch on TV" in my opinion. I'm lucky enough to have both Sky & Virgin as TV channel providers, and they both have shedloads of stuff on them that I want to watch! I've got so many series backed up to watch it's unbelievable! The only time I tend to watch live TV is when there's a sporting event on, such as football, NFL or F1. I've also got Amazon's Prime streaming service to fall back on when I can't be arsed to dip into any of the stuff on my PVR's. Plus DVD's, Blu-Rays etc! So nothing to watch on TV? More like..."I can't be bothered to entertain any other options other than surfing around the channels to see what's on at the moment"!

Of course, this is only my opinion!

I was watching the Channel 4 news today and one of the news items was about the property-crash in Spain and how it's causing financial hardship especially to British pensioners that had retired there.
The cost of living with the Euro nearly doubling in value against Sterling and apparently you cannot give property away on the Costa Del Sol and it's market-value is still falling,but...after the news finished, just before I usually turn the televison off, there followed some house-porn programme about investing in property in Spain!
I don't know when it was filmed, but I think that these house-porn programmes are like heroin (Smack) to the producers, in the fact that they can't stop themselves producing this type of crap.
You would have thought that the controllers at Channel 4 would by now have seen the way the s**t is hitting the fan and pulled these obscene and moronic programmes.

They (not just Channel 4) had a huge backlog of these kinds of programs and kept showing us the canned stuff, even years after the subprime crash... The only adjustment they (some of them) made was to label the asking price with year when it was asked for.

One thing I would like to see is a revisit to a particular program Allsop & Spencer made before that crash; that was about where in world (mostly Europe though) people should invest in property. I'd like to see, 5-10 years on, a re-evaluation of all these predictions...

That is a wonderful irony, I would have laughed like a drain at that exept that I have a villa in mijas and the arse has dropped out of the market.
Its true what you say though, its lazy, thoughtless programming.
