Think I may have quietly cried in "Ghost" also, the first time I saw it.

I destest sayings such as "Suck it up". I consider it to be abnormally cruel, akin to saying "Snap out of it" to someone with mental illness or depression, or for that matter calling an anorexic "fatty".
I'm also real 'big' on personal space, but not offensively so.

I admit that "when a grown man cries" is something that I read long ago and has stayed with me, because I felt this to be true. Maybe this is why I feel compelled to dry my eyes discretely or turn away if and when I cry in company.

Another saying I remember from youth is "Men swear to stop from crying, women cry to stop from swearing", which is decidedly 'old school', yet I saw significance in this once.

Last time I remember crying was at my mothers funeral just over a year ago.
I mananged to keep it together until they played "Moon River" a song i know we both liked when i was a kid. - Guess what is not on my 'playlist'

As I mentioned before elsewhere on the forum, I shed a few quiet tears when I first saw "What Dreams May Come" although it may have had as much to do with the fact that I suspected the girl I saw it with had a lover waiting in the wings.

It`s the grown men bit that get`s me , as in who among us is actually a grown man ?. I know i`m sure as hell not even at 36 , in fact i`m the biggest kid you could ever meet . True also probably one of the most aggressive ones , but then that`s merely genetics and food additives fault

Generally my most intense reaction when watching soul-stirring movies are bleary eyes.

But some weeks ago I wept tears like a baby when watching the Anti-War-Anime Grave of the Fireflies - maybe one of the most intense Anti-War-movies ever made. I still started crying again even days ago when I just remembered this film!



I never want to watch this damn movie again! It's very well made but it's also so extremely sad.

You say: "Ok pal, come on! How sweeping can be an animated comic!"

I don't know, Marlon. Crying for one's self may not be that bad these days, when you take into consideration the economy, and the extreme struggle a lot of folks are going through. I think a lot of us deserve a good cry. If you're doing well, that's great, I'm happy for you, and God bless you. But for a lot of people, seeing everything you've worked your whole life for go down the drain, while you've always tried to do everything right, only to be rewarded in the twilight of your life with failure and penury is enough to make anyone cry, the way I see it. Perhaps we deserve a little self-pity. After all, we usually have self-pity because there's no one else to pity us. And that in itself, is pitiful.

I have a hard time crying when I feel like I should be crying.There's been a few family losses when I was just devastated, but still no tears.It's enough to make me wonder if there's something wrong with me.
Other times when I have no business crying, I'll shed tears-like when my football team wins, or during a Christmas movie.
Most often though, I cry during the US National Anthem.No matter when I hear it, or where, it gets me.Last week, I took my daughter and a few of her friends to a hockey game,and before they begin, it's " Please rise for our National Anthem"....The kids got quite a chuckle when Mr. Anklebiter was standing there with tears a flowing.
