Did you know that the group Boy Meets Girl were songwriters who had a hit with their own song 'Waiting for a Star to Fall' and it was first offered and turned down by Whitney Houston. It went to Number One in this country.

Yeah, I know she has a co-writing credit, but the story I heard at the time was that Smith was given a demo by her producer, who was also Springsteen's. This was just Brucie mumbling along to the tune, and every so often he'd sing 'because the night'. Patti Smith just added a load of words, frankly less memorable than that single phrase, and recorded it. And Springsteen wasn't at all pleased when he found out what had happened.

Well, that's what I remember hearing anyway, but it was thirty five years ago. Maybe Estreeter would know if that's true.

Pete Seeger had a huge hit and so did The Byrds with Turn, Turn, Turn which was lifted from The Book of Ecclesiastes.

The Byrds also made liberal use of the Bob Dylan song book covering, among others, Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, My Back Pages, All I Really Want To Do and Chimes Of Freedom.

The Jaguar
Its' name derived from the native word Yaguara which means “he who kills with one leap”, it's the largest cat in the Americas and an apex predator and the reason for the nomination of jaguar as a master of various physical skills :-

Jaguars are skilled climbers, enabling them to catch unaware monkeys as well as carry their prey to safety to eat. A jaguar is quite capable of carrying a large kill while swimming and being in the Amazonian rainforests, the ability to do this is a great advantage.
Though not as fast as some of their cousins, Jaguars have been clocked to burst at speeds as fast as 80kmph while in pursuit of their prey. (a V8 is even faster - someone had to say it)

Jaguars, along with tigers, are noted to be the felines that enjoy swimming.
They are masters of stealth , living in rainforests gives no room to chase down prey, therefore, jaguars stalk in silence through the dense jungle.

Jaguars have an immense bite force of nearly 2000psi, comparable to that of American Alligators, and the strongest bite of any feline!
In fact jaguars have the largest bite force for any mammal, second only to the spotted hyena.

The best part of the modus operandi of a jaguar is how the great strength in its canines and jaw muscles has enabled the Jaguar to adapt a unique killing technique, also unique amongst cats, It pierces directly through the temporal bones of the skull between the ears of prey with its canine teeth, piercing the brain!
It invariably kills a number of animals on its menu by biting through their skull, such is the bite force of a jaguar that it can easily crack open the carapaces of turtles which are a part of its diet.
The immense power of its jaws enables the jaguar not only to take down prey more than twice its own weight, but also to carry them to safe branches for being devoured.

The Jaguar was an aircraft built by both Britain and France as a fighter bomber. It was called Jaguar as its a name that's the same in both languages. The same applied to the Tornado, this was a British, Italian and German coproduced aircraft, its the same name in English, German and Italian.

Angry Angry Motor Corporations...

The Car Company Jaguar Motors once tried to sue my Father after he'd named his Garage "Wirral Jaguar"
his success as an independent had obviously rubbed up the main agents.

Not only had he registered the name with companies house for a longer period than the necessary period for a complaint to expire , but his retort in the court got the case thrown out was his argument that it was the name of the jungle beast long before it was recognized as a vehicle

He was also threatened by Skoda with legal proceedings when he had an advertisement on local radio, voiced by a posh Penelope Keith type of lady, which went along the lines of ,
"Here's a message for all the Jaguar owners, not you Sir, that's a Skoda you're driving"

saying he'd look into it & that it was the Radio Station that had made the advert..,
legal proceedings were dropped after they believed it had been withdrawn
Little did they know it was only scheduled to run for a week
