When younger, read an account of a fella who said he had forgotten the names of some of the women he had slept with. "That's impossible," I thought. (So disrespectful, to boot.) How could you forget the name of a lady you've shared such intimacy with?

Naturally, the same has happened with me, and in spades.

Came by the cast listing of a movie on the IMDb, and (since they have recently changed their format, and the portraits of the actors have now become prominent) this face hit me:



Wow, I thought; who is that wonderful looking specimen of the female species? After learning her name, I wanted to see how she had been covered, or preferably uncovered, on Vintage Erotica Forum. Okay, so it turned out she has this rinky-dink one page thread we are on now, begun in 2009. (Mary is apparently contrary with many VEF members.) As I scrolled down, I noticed...

The last post was put up by me!

I don't know what's now more embarrassing. How I've forgotten the names of some past lovers, or how I've forgotten about Mary McDonnell in just a few months.


Dances With Wolves

There is something so very inviting about Ms. McDonnell. She first broke through the biz in 1980, when she was twenty-eight, and has had opportunity to appear in many titles. It doesn't seem that she has chosen to be very revealing, unfortunately. As a good Irish lass, almost certainly Catholic, perhaps her upbringing may have had an effect on her choice to remain as what she considered to be decent. (Naturally, whatever her reasons were, she was perfectly entitled to keep her clothes on. Yet she has paid a tremendous price, by doing so. I mean, look. She has been all but ignored at this forum.)



As she appeared on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson, promoting her huge 1990 hit, Dances With Wolves.
The episode is here. A commenter on that YouTube page correctly opined, "absolute knock-out."

In the second post of the thread, as you may see by scrolling above,

Dances With Wolves (1990) has been seen by many, giant box office hit that it was at the time.



Mary played a white woman raised by Indians. Perhaps this film afforded her only exposure, at the age of thirty-eight, although nothing profound was visible (especially since the scene was shot in "candlelight").



As director, Kevin Costner had the rare privilege to check out what laid underneath. It's good to be the king.


1998's You Can Thank Me Later gave Mary a chance to stretch her dormant sexy muscles. The man in these shots may be Ted Levine, the serial killer who had the showdown with Jodie Foster by the end of The Silence of the Lambs. The tall actress (she's 5'8") was courageous enough to crave a piece of him in this scene, as they clandestinely enjoyed a sinful moment in a bathroom stall where boys congregate. She was forty-six. (An IMDb commenter was understandably taken by the lady; "gorgeous and amazing.")


I raised the "Ted Levine" possibility because of a review's claims; the actor above could be somebody else.

Margin Call (2011) is a compelling number exploring the panic among the people of a bank during the 2008 meltdown. A beaten Kevin Spacey (symbolically?) buries a pet at film's end, and his wife, Mary, comes out to have a talk. The front of the fifty-nine-year-old is a little exposed, and she wastes no time to cover herself up.




EDIT:

Later got the idea that the "nude" scene from above's "The Night" (where one can't make anything out) wasn't the title of a movie/TV show, but perhaps alluded to something else, such as the name of a website. The search yielded no results as to where the shot came from, but I came upon two pages that focused on the appreciation for Mary McDonnell's acting instead of her appearance (humpf! The nerve).

from 2012-2018. She looks lovely here, and that compliment
often can't be extended toward many sixty-year-olds. YouTube
commenter from the page: "I love this woman in a way I can't
even find words to describe... She is beautiful, smart, eloquent,
classy, clever. The only default I know her : she is a smoker."

One from 2016 was called, "Performers Of The Month - September Winner: Outstanding Actress - Mary McDonnell." It goes into loving detail about how "brilliant" her acting choices are.


Donnie Darko

This other page featured a YouTube clip accentuating Mary's nuanced performance from 2001's Donnie Darko (see Member "DTravel"'s opening Post #1 above for more views of Mary from this film). A comment from the YouTube page: Mary's character is "such a knockout...in every way. She's the goal in life. Calm, sarcastic, peak intelligence (how bout that genius son you birthed!), empathetic,....and just kinda stunning."


Sneakers

There was also a GIF of Mary dancing with River Phoenix, in a scene from 1992's Sneakers, where she is so much in control, and kind of sexy. (You have to click on the image to see the animation. I brightened up the dark original for clarity.)

Finally... (even later Edit)...

I conducted an image search to get to the bottom of "The Night" (probably the handle of the screen capper), and it was no dice. Among the results were two VEF references, one being a porno site that cloned this VEF page. Another was a peculiar VEF page identified as "VBulletin," where the photos don't show. To make sure it was the same page as this, I clicked on a couple of links from Wendigo's Post #4 from 2011 (as seen above), and that's when I took note of one (first shot below), where Mary appeared to be ... bottomless?

Given the quality, the caps appear to be from a VHS, and also judging by her youthful appearance, these must have derived from early in her career, where Ms. McDonnell appears to have consented to undergo the "nudity concession." (Perhaps VEF's detectives will one day reveal which films both Wendigo's photos, as well as the one labeled "The Night," came from. I conducted image searches on Wendigo's views, using several search engines, and wound up with zilch. My guess is either of 1988's Tiger Warsaw or 1987's Matewan, with 1984's Lady Garbo as a distant possibility.)

The exciting conclusion is that this spectacular-looking lady made one (or two) exceptions to the protection of her modesty. (She is so nice.)
