Golf in America has become one of the most popular games in recent decades. In the past only rich people played in their private country clubs. The great Arnold Palmer changed all that. His great enthusiasm for the game and his outspokeness for the game as a public recreation caused golf to be taught in schools, and all across America now are tens of thousands of public courses. In my neighborhood of Chicago there are two public golf courses. One is free and one you have to pay for. In the 7 county Chicago Metropolitan area there are at least 1,000 public golf courses.

Scotland has loads of public golf courses where anyone can play golf for a fiver.

There's one across the road from my house - not that I've ever used it!!!

That is extreme, for sure

But it's known that golf is problematic in states like Nevada, Arizona and California, because golf courses need water that no one can supply because there isn't enough and there are higher priorities

Maybe they can learn from Arabs and will learn to play only on sand
