Actually, I didn't know there was a directive banning certain kinds of weapons. But if so, it can only mean that nearly all Member States agreed with it, and they're obviously right

Many states allow firearm ownership. Where I live there are more than firearms than people, believe it or not. But no one is allowed to own weapons of war, especially not fully automatic firearms

So I have no sympathy with the Czech complainants, and none whatever with Orban

And I have even less for you if you think Brexit would be solved in 2 minutes if they all had firearms

Maybe if HALF of them had firearms - doesn't matter which.

It's not Sunday without a piece on religion

Vatican ex-diplomat sentenced to five years on child pornography charges
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-44590887

5 years and a pisspoor fine, yup that will sort it
Then no doubt a quiet retirement on a generous pension all of which will have been generously paid for by countless millions of Catholics.

He said he had suffered a personal crisis while working at the Vatican embassy in Washington DC.

The US cottoned on to him but I wonder if the church is still in denial themselves

Default Kid breaks statue worth 132K

Saw this on a news site.

http://abc13.com/family-on-the-hook-...tatue/3606507/

How is it that parents can let their children run around like little monkeys and do things like this these days?

I was taught from an early age to act better than that.

If I had broken that statue, I would have got an ass-whupping on the spot, and when the insurance company later called my dad and said he owed them 132,000 dollars, I would have got ANOTHER ass-whupping - the mother of all ass-whuppings.

I wonder if the parents even punished their child, except to say, "no, no, that was very naughty."

I would guess not, since they are making whining noises about how the display was unsafe, and the statue could have squished their kid. Nope, none of it was their responsibility at all...

The stupid and lazy genes are spreading everywhere.

My hairdresser,( yep I know, but I am a UN Diplomat and have to look good, hard for a fat ugly bastard like me, but she does her best!), was punched in the face and kicked in the stomach the other day, now you might expect the miscreant to have been dragged away by the Police and to be locked in the nick for assaulting the poor woman, but oh no! This particular little shit was but four years of age! Its owner was, naturally, glued to its mobile phone, with neither thought or view of the creature and was actually surprised when my lady complained, her reaction? She shook her head and said 'oh John, that was naughty' then went back to the far more serious matter of reading her horoscope!

My Mum would have dragged me out of the chair, beaten my ass, and stuck me back in the chair still sniveling and whipping the snot from mt nose, whilst making me apologise and then apologising herself. I would then have been marched home, and quite possibly sent to bed with no tea!

Everyone finds medical reasons for bad behaviour, the main one recently invented is autism, the real one is a lack of discipline and control from an early age, funny how autism did not exist when I was a kid and corporal punishment was available to both parents and teachers!

Autism did exist,It's probably where stories about Changelings came from.

The film Rain Man is 30 years old by now. Not that recent.

By the way, 'discovering' a disease doesn't mean it didn't exist before, it's just a finer diagnosis. Long ago people 'just' died, because they didn't know the cause.

But i agree that there's too much enthousiasm in diagnosing stuff on kids. It's like parents want a named reason for why their kids are little assholes

Autism exists, and is a real condition, but the whole "Aspergers spectrum" is suspect, IMHO.
That being said, kids that are a bit loopy or have a temper are now being diagnosed with a mental illness as a pretext to drug them into "normalcy", at least on this side of the pond.
