Well SanteeFats...Sounds like you've had a wonderful experience with your neighbors.

I had always been too afraid to ask. I think it came from my mother. Trying not to ask in order to prevent the horrific memories coming back for them. They had suffered enough. Hope it all went well. (Hell...My mom still hates Hogans Heroes..."There's nothing funny about POW's during WW II.")

Didn't this topic hit the peak with the release of the movie Schindler's List (1993)? All of a sudden deniers came out of the woodwork. I think they pretty much got chewed down over time, but there are still some who hold strong.

Having had seen "The Band of Brothers" countless times. The scene that has always stuck to me the most was when the US troops forced the German civilians to tour and bury the dead. The realization and horror the the citizens had felt. Many had just dismissed what had been happening. Just kind of pretended that it wasn't happening. Then the true horror was found when they were actually confronted with it. I could never forget that scene.

In reality; "During WWII, General Eisenhower ordered every citizen of Gotha, Germany to tour a concentration camp. After seeing the camp, the mayor hanged himself."

http://www.warhistoryonline.com/arti...d-himself.html

I kinda have a feeling that if there are any holocaust deniers among us, they maybe too afraid to come out of the woodwork. But if some do, I would still be respectful and let them say what they will.

I think that works pretty well. Not that it really bothered me or anything SanteeFats. I know it probably wasn't what you meant, but it did have a "Ripley's Believe it or not" kind of sound. Not sure if you'd seen it that way...Sometimes I don't pick up on those things myself. But Oh well. I'm sure that's not how you wanted it to be seen.

What really disturbs me is that if there are people denying the Holocaust only decades after the fact, when victims and perpetrators are still alive to talk about it, how many more deniers will there be in a couple of hundred years? Human beings as a group seem to have an unfortunate knack for forgetting the lessons of history.

G'Day

Umm, first of all, thanks for asking and full credit there.

I'll answer your question with 2 answers,

1st, It's not against the rules so I have too say you're quite within your rights to start one... So go ahead and start it.

That's the easy answer and ya have a clear directive there

2nd, and this is just an observation and half personal half mod experience opinion. Those type threads are a major pain in the ass for mods. The main reason, being the internet, at times with certain members and posts, posts can be very easily misunderstood. We have seen controversial topics get out of hand, particularly when none of the mods are logged on too keep an eye out for trouble or trolls. Our main aim here is too keep members coming back and not issue warnings and so forth. As far as the 4 GD mods go, we've actually issued very very few official warnings over the years, and we like too keep it that way.

Like I indicated, we've removed posts in threads that perhaps we should not have and also the other way round, not removed posts we should have, only because as I said, things on here can be taken out of context, and sometimes even members don't type out their posts in a way they perhaps should have too say the same thing.

Depending on what happens , We'll have no hesitation too pull the thread.

So, I suppose it's a go ahead, but be very careful and don't be surprised if the thread either fizzles or disappears due too getting out of hand.

Cheers
E
The main point of my post here is simple, we do get trolls here, idiots who just have nothing better to do than be a troll. If anyone feels a member is trolling, disregard their post, don't reply too their post, we'll take it from there.

I would guess some Stormfront neo Nazis might be members here but I seriously doubt they would announce themselves.

Although the six million Jews the Nazis killed in WWII are well known in the west, the 10 to 20 million Chinese killed by the Japanese is a fact still not widely known. I don't think deniers of these murders will announce themselves either.

My family lost people in Belsen which like Dachau was a Concentration camp as opposed to a death camp. The British and American troops who liberated those camps had no sympathy for the guards. How the Russians who liberated the Death Camps must have felt takes some imagination.

[QUOTE=BinLadenSucks;2992200] Hogans Heroes

I thought that way until I found out that Klink, Schultz, LeBeau, and a few others were Jews, I can't remember which one but he was actually in a concentration camp!! They all said they had no problem playing Germans because they were made to look like fools.

I remember seeing a news report about Neo-Nazi scum creating a shrine near one of the camps,at the site where the Red Army had simply taken the guards into the woods and shot Them.
