North Korea is still a long way away and they have been "ready for war" every month for the last 15 years. I believe their capabilities to be wildly exaggerated (remember WMD in 45 minutes?). For all we know, the big missiles on parade could be dustbins welded together.

They are on China's border so China (a) has most to lose but is (b) NK's chief backer. I don't think they will be willing to let it get any worse for the sake of a bit of cheap coal.

Another thing. Do NK have any other real, committed allies among whom any war would spread? Not really so far as I am aware - others may know better but would Russia want to be involved? Doubt it.

So I'd say relax people. It could be messy but not domesday.
Hope you're right , my friend .

Did you have to buy your own firearms like Patton?
No Paton did not either! Little point in buying your own weapon, what happens if you run out of ammunition and it is the wrong caliber? Best stick with issue! Swords are really cheap! A mere £1400, plus of course the knot another £60!

The only reason China backs NK is really because they know it is a busted flush. What they don't want is 25 million hungry, piss-poor people desperate to cross the border into their territory when/if the whole thing breaks down.

Things will work through - they have to - so I'll be here next year and I'm confident that you will be too.

Default France elections: Le Pen 'steps aside' as party leader

Far-right French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen has announced that she will step down as leader of her National Front (FN) party.

The move comes just a day after she reached the second round of the French election, where she will face Centrist Emmanuel Macron.

"This evening I decided to take my leave of the presidency of the National Front," she told TV channel France 2.

"I will be above partisan considerations."

Some on the far right are claiming that Marine Le Pen is ahead, based on the fact she won 47 departments (constituencies), compared to Macron's 43.

Maybe if France had a FPTP electoral system like the UK or the US would already be President despite losing the popular vote like Trump.
Like Trump she won the rural vote outside the big cities.

Default Bananarama is back!

Sara Dallin, Siobhan Fahey and Keren Woodward were the biggest girl band of the 1980s, scoring hits including Venus, Shy Boy and Love In The First Degree.

Although they scored 10 top 10 hits, the trio never toured before Fahey quit to form Shakespears Sister in 1988.

The split was acrimonious, but the members recently reconciled and have announced a 15-date UK tour for winter.

Formed in 1979, the band took their name from two of their biggest inspirations: the Roxy Music song Pyjamarama and kids TV show The Banana Splits.

They went on to sell more than 40 million records, with their biggest-sellers including Robert De Niro's Waiting, Cruel Summer and I Heard A Rumour.

If I was in charge of the EU, I would worry. - nearly 40% of the French population voted for a Eurosceptic candidate, and this is in a country that was one of the founding fathers of the European Union.
Mr Macron may well defeat Marine Le Pen.
But populism is still alive and kicking.

I hope Macron beats Le Pen(or is it Madame Stylo?) but he will be no friend of Britain as he is pro-EU and wants the EU to be even stronger. He has all but said that he would not back Britain when we leave the EU for any trade talks unless we have some kind of deal for free movement of people-something tells me this is going to run on for a while.

Did you know that Trump has a fear or phobia of steps and slopes? If he comes here somehow they will have to keep him away from anything sloping or with steps-which begs the question how on earth does he board Air Force One or the presidential helicopter as they both have steps up!
