Oh, we have a lot of drunks, too, but drinking to excess is not accepted as much today as it was 50 years ago. Drinking peaks in folks 18 to 22, then jobs, marriage, and kids take over and most become grown ups. Between the CIA abetting cocaine traffic in the 1980s and the drug companies pushing opiods since the turn of the century, we have managed to create more addicts, but most drug use is of marijuana. I personally believe marijuana is not as innocuous as its advocates say. Overall, our rates of alcoholism and addiction are lower than they used to be, but it does seem that all countries have 8-9% of the population that cannot control their usage of some substance or another. Get folks off one drug and another one takes its place with this crowd.

I wonder if that's true anymore, as a lot of media points to 'ice' (meth amphetamine) as an epidemic.
Maybe I'm fortunate to be of an age where almost no-one I know personally would consider experimenting with anything like this. Except one. A friend of a girlfriend is a chronic user and has recently been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She is 35 and unlikely to undergo treatment.

I had this crazy thought of building a tunnel like the English Channel tunnel, from New Zealand to Australia, but that is just too ridiculous. New Zealand is 1400 miles from Australia. It is easier just to take a commercial jet. Just another crazy thought from trailmaster, always thinking, always imagining!

Question

Where does Australia get it's hard liquor from? Does it distill it's own, or does it import it?

Question

If there was some kind of natural or un-natural catastrophe that wiped out all of Australia's vineyards, all its breweries, and all its factories that distill hard liquor what would the country do to get all this stuff to satisfy the needs of the 24,000,000 people who live in Australia?

Start all over, I'll bet there would be no union strikes at breweries for quite some time

i don't know how it is in mainland 'straylia but i have a friend here who owns a video rental/tobacconist and he sells ingredients for distilling alcohol.
I think it's a bit suss though. You get almost pure alcohol that you have to 'water down' and you have little bottles of 'flavour' that you need to add

I've tried the bourbon, but wasn't convinced. But then i never have alcohol, even beer in the house.

(cuz i drinks it all on the way home)

You could once buy alcohol essence once in Victoria. I got black Sambuca once and all it needed was water, sugar and you boil it. I added triple the recommended sugar though to give it real kick. A woman I knew loved Sambuca and she enjoyed it but it knocked her socks off she was hung over for 3 days lol. I saw her a week later and she asked "WFT did you do to it?!"

But it got banned a long time ago.
