Yah...since Eli and Rivers were traded soon after, I just counted them as traded draft picks.

I forgot Favre was an Atlanta pick...

Good catch

Given the morons in the Buffalo area media and the sheep fans, that's all they would be calling for. And in 2 or 3 years when his confidence and possibly his body are shattered, the complaints would be that they rushed him in to soon. In fact, one of the local columnists complained that Edwards wouldn't have thrown the picks that Fitz threw, because Edwards would have checked off. If Trent had played and done that, the columnist would have said that Fitz wouldn't have checked off and thrown down field.

Was releasing Edwards a panic move? Yeah, probably. But after Fitzgerald's performance yesterday it was obvious that the only way Trent would return as the QB was if Fitz and Brohm were hurt. I'm not sold on any of the young QB's in the NFL right now. Clausen's a Golden Domer with attitude, Tebow's been canonized (at least in Gainesville) and Bradford is a Ram thrown to the wolves.

As far as Alex Smith is concerned, I agree that maybe it's over for him in SF. But given the inconsistancy with the coaching staff, will the next QB fare any better?
I've personally been sold on the Bill Parcells model on how to build a team. He starts with both lines & builds outward. He's known to draft a running back before bringing in a Franchise Quarterback as well. It's the reason that I previously stated for why I didn't want to trade most of my draft to move up & get Eli Manning. The Giants O-Line was in shambles at the time. That's where I thought the draft should be concentrated.

But, we saw what happened in Miami & Dallas. In my opinion, it's a proven formula. Brother Tygrkhat, have the Bills had the same GM for this entire post Levy period? Aside from Marv Levy, I can't think of anyone who was the GM up there. He was the GM after stepping down as Head Coach wasn't he? If so, I would think the majority of the blame should be at the GM's feet. It's a crime that the Bills have been as bad as they've been for as long as they have. It's too easy to go from worst to first in the current NFL economic climate.

I think a lot people don't realize or have forgotten (he's pretty old ) that Favre was originally a Falcon.

Did SD or NYG get the better of that trade? ... Manning has a ring of course, but last year and right now Rivers seems to be better.

There was John Butler who later when on to be a successful GM in SD before dying of cancer - he drafted Tomlinson and Brees for the Chargers among others.

There was Tom Donahoe: what a mess

Levi was after Donahoe, and now Buddy Nix - did I miss any tygrkhat?

Edwards was a 3rd round choice.

Between Levy and Nix, Russ Brandon acted as GM in 2009. Teams need consistancy with all phases of the organization: players, coaches and management. And the Bills have not had that. As I've stated before, sure a team can go from worst to first in a season. But the real trick is to stay at first for more than one season. Look at the Falcons and Dolphins, worst in '07, first in '08 and out of the playoffs in '09.

But there is also the opposite to the lack of consistancy and that's having management in place for so long that complacency sets in. That's the problem some believe Buffalo's other major league team, the Sabres, has. Larry Quinn, Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff have been in charge for so long, some are calling for new blood to shake the team up. And in some ways, I agree with that.

Is Julius Peppers proving to be one of the best off-season acquisitions, or what?
