That might depend on what my kid was up to which led to him (or her) getting a slap. If it was serious enough (stealing from shops, vandalism etc) then I might feel someone had just saved me the job.

Default Hillary Clinton leaves door open for 2020 run

Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton during an event over the weekend left the door open to a possible 2020 run, saying that even though she doesn't want to run, "I'd like to be president."

Clinton's comments come as speculation has increased over whether she will launch another bid after the midterm elections.

I should have looked for the "out-of-date April Fools" thread and posted this item there instead...

Hillary reminds me of up over the hill fighter that just doesn't know when to hang it up.

I work at various times in various campaigns. That's why I take one election at a time. Each election provides pointers toward the next. Wednesday morning will be the first time there will be any basis to look toward 2020.

Each election in the US is different. In 2008 I worked in a minor spot in Hillary's campaign. All the major spots were filled with folks from Bill's 1992 campaign. That was a big red flag. The other big red flag was her "win and move on" strategy in collecting delegates. She would win a state primary 51-49 or 53-47 and move on. The Obama team would stick around, persuading minor-candidate delegates to sign on with him. By picking up leftovers, all Obama had to do was win a couple of late primaries to secure the nomination, which he did. In 2016 I worked in Bernie's campaign because, as I confided to a friend running a field operation for Hillary, I feared that, against all odds, she would find a way to lose.

Hopefully, common sense will prevail and Mrs Clinton will not vex the patience of potential opponents of Mr Trump by trying again. She is justly detested by very many lifelong Democrats for both losing the election against Donald Trump, which should not have been possible, and for being falsely nominated in a rigged and corrupt primary vote. She is also a standard bearer for neoliberal economic policies which have undermined traditional employment sectors, for exporting American jobs and condoning illegal migrant labour in the USA; for greed and dishonesty, inveterate lying and arrogant cynical selfishness.

America desperately needs a humane and responsible alternative to her present Mussolini president. Hillary Clinton ain't it.

Oh I don't think she has done any such thing. The problem is that many people have been convinced by a slanderous propaganda campaign over the past 24 years that these lies are true. The second problem is that she lacks the charisma that allows voters to disbelieve negative press. The final issue is that she is a lousy campaigner who does not follow advice from savvy vote getters like her husband.

Jerry Brown's sister Kathleen Brown managed to lose a race for governor of California in which she started out a prohibitive favorite. It put me in the Green party for a couple of cycles. (I'm not really much of a Democrat as a where else can I go, given that the Republicans have been screwing working people since Abe Lincoln was shot? For example, on my current ballot I voted against all but one bond issue and tax measure. The initiatives are almost always BS with hidden bombs and much false advertising. Unlike most of my fellow citizens, I read the measures and have the skills to decipher the legalese.)

Back to the current topic, I am sure that the Democrats will settle on a candidate in the next two years and into won't be any of the creaking war horses who need to put their freaking egos aside for the good of the country. Come on Mr. Obama, help an outsider save the country.

Actually, this may have been the election that helped kill Latino support for the Clintons. As a result of this election President Clinton started the build up at the border because he took the losses (governor's race and prop 187)as a indication that the people wanted more border security and started the troop buildup at the border which is kind of ironic if you really look at it being that the media makes it seem that the Clintons always wanted open borders believe me the Latinos hold a far different view of this situation which is sort of why they did not turn out like expected during the last election.

this is exactly the attitude that the Democratic party wants you to have. Because as long as you have that attitude about the situation it gives them license to make any compromise they see fit and if any of the constituents get the hard to complain about it they could always come back with the "Where else are you going to go?"

You obviously have far more faith in the party than I do...

After I wrote my comment, the name "William Jennings Bryan" popped into my mind and I shuddered. My poor 93 year old father has sworn off the TV news.

I have a wish that Obama & friends recognize their patriotic duty and help some bright low profile candidate pull a repeat of the 2008 nomination hi-jack. What we know is that the vast majority of voters are willing to roll the dice in hopes of bettering their lives.

Teachers would feel right at home in Congress. Segueing from tenure to no term limits should not be difficult. The teacher's unions make Congress look like a day on the beach.
