Do you think that any of the other side of the isle would be better for your country than what you have now?? What do you think will change that will be better? I've seen the ideas of the left and from any of the things I see from them they just don't logically make sense to me. Open borders and taking in more people who need some sort of support rather than helping the people that need it and are your brethren. Free healthcare sounds nice as long as the doctors and staff work for free as well Free college sure. But with affirmative action and quotas for anyone who happens to be a certain persuasion or race or how much money you have sort of tilts that idea. Education should be provided on merits. How many kids drop out of college that shouldn't be there in the first place. And how many are there that should be and can't because they don't meet the "requirements" to fill that quota.
How many leave with useless degrees and those that work hard and do well expect good jobs that pay 100K a year and they deserve it. A little disheartening to say the least How and who pays for all that free stuff? Aren't you taxed enough? Do you really trust ANY government with all that power? I just can't get past watching people like Pelosi Schemer Maxine Waters Alex Cortez Kamala Harris >> that hibab wearing what's her name without shaking my head and wondering WTF. You're right Jen I don't live there and shouldn't probably have an opinion but even though I think your POTUS is sometimes an ass that the country would do better with someone like him than any one I see as an alternative. Both sides have their nutcases. the far right is always talking about a second civil war and shooting people they don't like and then you have your left radicals who far outnumber that radicals on the right. They actually commit it rather than talk about it. Riots assaults looting doesn't look good to me. i used to love going to and working in the states and have been to a majority of them. I always met good people. Now it is a fly over country for me. i quit visiting and working there at least 15 years ago. I don't wish to loose any friends here because of my opinions as they are not that important to me. But friends are so >>>>>>>>>>>> I go now Last edited by TheBare; March 22nd, 2019 at 08:04 AM.. |

Let's start with healthcare. We don't know what level of healthcare can be provided, how much it will cost, and how we will pay for it. We do know that all the other first world nations and even poor countries like Costa Rica are doing better at providing healthcare for their people, despite our spending a heck of a lot more money per capita. We also know that some folks are getting obscenely rich by having their hands somewhere in the health pie. As a business person I know that spreading the actuarial risk over the whole population pool is the best way to spread the cost fairly. It also eliminates the competitive disadvantage that quality employers face because free riders are getting medical care on their dime. So healthcare for all will not be free, but there is a way to make it work. I know many teachers and retired teachers. One of our biggest issues is that we have greatly expanded the educational overhead, i.e., administrators while simultaneously cutting the actual services provided. Shop and other vocational classes to prepare the non-academically inclined for adulthood are almost extinct. Thus we have a lot of bored kids. The smart kids are bored because classes aren't challenging enough because they have been watered down so poor students don't fail too much. The non-academically inclined kids are bored because they aren't interested in the classes being offered. Finally, jobs are moved overseas because our schools are not providing enough young people who can become skilled tradespeople in a reasonable amount of time. We used to have a terrific education system in this country & I would like to see us get back to what works. I also believe we would have a lot less crime and addiction if our people were better engaged in their lives and saw at least a reasonably comfortable future for themselves. I would like us to sharply reduce our level of military meddling in other countries business. Let's prepare a quality militia that is a real deterrent to invasion, expand our technical mastery to increase our security, and focus our naval efforts on anti-piracy campaigns. We may not like many regimes, but it is up to the people of those nations to fix their problems. I do not believe that any small minority can keep a country enslaved without complicit behavior from the majority. Nancy Pelosi is a very sharp cookie who is keeping the craziest elements of her party at least somewhat under wraps. Maxine Waters is a perfect representative for a district that is mainly composed of poor minorities and has little clout outside her district. AOC is a young firebrand who speaks for that constituency and is just learning the Congressional ropes. She does ask some very interesting questions in hearings but also makes some terrific gaffes. Kamala Harris is a former San Francisco District Attorney who is regarded as a lightweight who is marginally competent, if that, by those of us most familiar with her track record. (A friend of the family retired early from his position as a state attorney rather than continue working for her when she was Attorney General.) The press pays a great deal of attention to the noisy people, while largely ignoring those who get things done and have real power. Take Bernie Sanders, for instance. The guy has no clout or standing in the Democratic party, but a whole raft of ignorant and young people have been mislead by the outsized attention he is given by the press. I am unwilling to believe that the political figures who are currently most prominent are the best that we can do. If they are, we are in very deep doo-doo as nobody is inspiring much confidence. (Xi? Trudeau? Maduro? Bolsonaro? Macron? Theresa May? Modi? Bibi? Damn....Jesus, if you are out there, we need you.) |

Maxine Waters' district has become more Hispanic and Asian. It is probably just as well that she is aging out.
Nancy Pelosi promised to turn over the gavel at the end of this term. I do hope she has identified her replacement. The right wing is really not going to like her successor. Point #1, party loyalty still matters and Bernie Sanders is not a member of the Democratic party. Point #2 Bernie Sanders is 77 years old. Point # 3 My sister was asking the other day if I could recall any of Bernie Sanders legislative accomplishments. Can you think of any? I am very impressed with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She seems smart as a whip and usually three steps ahead of her dull witted reactionary opposition. Are they playing to their base when demonizing her? Their attacks can only be raising her stature among the young and disaffected. I expect her to be a fixture on the political scene long after I have found out for myself the truth about the afterlife. |

Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation has reached its conclusion and his report has been submitted to the United States Attorney General's office.

Frankly, I don't understand why the right wing has their panties in a bunch over AOC. She is ONE of 435 Representatives. She is a freshman representative with NO senority, ergo no real power. What is all the fuss about?

It is rather simple IMO. In the House it is as you said. But her ideas are based on emotions and ideals and not on facts and reality. That may change over time but who knows??? Plus there are more like her that are now in Congress
