Yes I enjoyed that a lot although I didn't come into the series until later. I thought there were some clever touches like the phone boxes having different things other than a phone in them. Adele's tune 'Hello' played poignantly at the end although I guessed he might take that back with him.
Actually looking forward to the next series of Strictly Come Dancing, especially some of the gorgeous girl dancers old and new. I must admit a curiousness to see what Naga Munchetty's legs look like. A few I've never heard of but some are household names and Ed Balls...good move? not sure, remains to be seen. The Great British Bake Off is still on fine form, although I doubt this year's winner will be able to match the popularity of Nadya Hussein last year. Innuendo(guaranteed to get the Twittersphere hopping mad) laden but it is funny and Mary & Paul are on top form. Finally great to see Think Tank back-one of the best informal quizzes around and the think tankers are actually funny, if, in Anesha's or the rather gorgeous, glamourous Dr Abi's cases, a little dense at times with their answers. Give Max his own show, he is too good not to be a presenter. Bill Turnbull is very good too and the fact it has no audience is better. Puzzlingly though the new series is Monday - Wednesday and then a repeat of the first series Thursday-Friday!!

Poldark is back on BBC TV and it's started off pretty well. This is a lavish well made, well acted period series and it's nice to see John Nettles (Bergerac) putting in an appearance, as I thought he'd retired from acting.
Interestingly, this excellent production was bought in by the BBC and is made by exactly the same, very capable company who are responsible for Victoria showing on ITV at exactly the same time. Pity the Beeb feels the need to compete, but I suppose some people can get it on the online catch-up service? |

Victoria was already into Ep3 though, so once that has finished people will stick with Poldark to the end. Has some lovely girls in it, Eleanor Tomlinson(Demelza), Heida Reed(Elizabeth) and that new blonde babe is going to be trouble I reckon. I half expected Nettles to ask "Where's Charlie?" but he is a good actor. Jack Farthing as George Warleggan is a real pantomime villain, you want someone to give him a good slap on his smug face.

Thanks to my grandson Lucas, The Legend Of Dick and Dom.
Very funny and their companions, a inept mage and a bad tempered, argumentative servant steal the show. |

The Kettering Incident - only seen the first episode. Beautiful Tasmanian landscapes, show feels a bit like a downunder Twin Peaks. Not sure about it, all depends where its going. But a promising start. Has David Lynch's big plot point "Something terrible happened in the woods, but we don't talk about it now" -- but seemingly without the fetishy/art angle.
One thing I notice: with drones so cheap, we're now seeing a lot of "helicopter shots", shots which used to cost a lot of money, but now are dead easy. Makes television productions feel like a movie (this is pretty big budget in feeling in other ways). On Foxtel in Oz, included in Amazon Prime in the US . . . |

I bought a tobacco pouch at Kettering once. Hope it wasn't part of someone you love.
File under Tasmanian Gothic
It's my understanding some of it was filmed on Bruny Island. A beautiful place. Hope you enjoy it. |
