This isn't necessarily "good" but I'm watching it at the moment. It's "An Idiot Abroad", the new series from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Marchant, a kind of anti-travel show where they send a bigoted idiot to various parts of the world and he complains about how foreign it is.
I heard about this last year and I was looking forward to it, but now that I've seen it I don't buy it. He sounds like some 2-bit comedian who's begged his mates to boost his career by giving him his own show. Does anyone have any info/opinion on the programme? (Watching it right now and he's even quoted Gervais' own anti-catchphrase, "You havin' a laugh?") |

When people started talking about Karl Pilkington I looked him up on Google and almost every clip or article mentioned Gervais, featuring clips of him laughing at his own material. I think I'll sit this one out. |

Almost , but not quite . Because he`s as big a twat as those other two smug sods. Man wish i could get a TV show where i could simply be my own irritating self , and then get a few movie roles where i could simply be my own irritating self, plus do stand up , after first ripping off Stewart Lee`s master class style of performing and pissing all over it Rick Gervias a comedy genius Saint Ronnie Barker where are you when we need you most

The two female leads are pretty hot though (even if they do keep their kit on) Robin Tunney & Amanda Righetti I watched the first episode of 'Mad Dogs' last night on Sky 1. I'm hoping it gets better.

I don't think I hate Ricky Gervais as much as you guys.
I liked The Office, I didn't think it was quite the masterpiece some people thought it was, but it was watchable, and got Martin Freeman noticed. Extras was OK, but it's part of that whole "celebrities playing shallow and arrogant versions of themselves to prove they're not shallow and arrogant but only ending up proving they're really shallow and arrogant" sub-genre that annoys me. Never seen any of his films, though. Watched about 5 minutes of The Invention Of Lying last night, but a world in which people are incapable of lying would be radically different to our own, so I just don't buy the concept. Never watched any of his stand-up. No, my real problem is with the concept. Karl's not the everyman he appears to be, just a lame comedian with powerful friends. |

Hate is such a mild word Not that i hate him , i`ve just quickly tired of his hyena laugh needy baby persona . Plus having now watched four season`s of the American version of the Office i can see just how weakly written the back characters were in our version , oh and we didn`t have one decent looking woman in the show either . What sacrilege !

I'm not a great fan of Gervais but if you check out youtube and look for his sesame street appearance off camera with Elmo it is one of the funniest sequences I've ever seen.
Re: Outcasts. Good special effects but its let down by a bad script, and I was really looking forward to seeing sci-fi back on the BBC since the days of SPACE COPS if anyone remembers that from around late 80's. It's very disappointing after being trailed several times and hyped up since end of December-still a few episodes to go, it might get better-good cast let down by a bad script. Waterloo Road however is looking good, so is still that.

Regiment.
They were originally the 2nd Royal Warwicks. An English regiment who'd been stationed in Wales & were brought up to strength with a fresh draft of Welsh recruits prior to their departure to South Africa.
