With the exception of #1 it could not have been any of those because though I am agitated and upset holding for that long I sit there very quietly and patiently, and I only do my ranting and swearing after I am cut off!

Most of those cashiers can't even tie their own shoes or walk and chew gum at the same time, or count past 10, let alone administer CPR. If the cash register didn't tell them how much change to give back they would be lost and dumbfounded -- and even then you need to count your change before leaving the register because they can't even do that right!

Today's annoyance was a couple of neighborhood kids. As I was leaving home to get some groceries, at the first intersection were two kids about ten years old in the middle of the intersection. One walked up to the front of my car and waved at me. As he did so another car came up from my left and also stopped to avoid running over these kids. Right after waving at me the first kid moved to the manhole cover in the middle of the intersection and started doing The Worm (you know, that stupid "dance" thing that starts by laying on your stomach and undulating?) while his buddy was holding up a cell phone like he was recording it. I let loose with my car horn at that point and they both went running off.

I had seen them playing at that intersection yesterday but they weren't deliberately stopping traffic then. I'm seriously considering running the brats over if they pull this shit again. Demonstrate evolution in action and why parents tell their kids not to play in traffic!

The British benefits system and their employees

This is going to be a big post but stick with it

I am unemployed and have been for a while, I had a job for over 20 years but had to give it up because of an injury to my spine. I am now recovered and looking for a job but because I've been off work for a number of years I've been moved from the benefits office (jobcenter) and sent to a private company (Seetec) who are being paid large amounts of cash to find me a job by the Department For Work And Pensions.

Now I'm at Seetec I'm on what's called a work program where I have to attend meetings, job searches, courses etc.. These are mandatory and your benefits are stopped if you don't attend, this is where the fun starts.

I was due to go to an appointment on 2nd January but I was ill so I phoned up Seetec to let them know and I'm told not to worry and to go to the Jobcenter when I feel a bit better and fill in a sick form (JSA28). So, on the 4th of January I go to the Jobcenter and ask for one of these forms, the woman behind the desk gives it to me and says if you fill it in here and give it back to me we will send it to head office. So I did and I heard no more about it until 10th February when two letters were delivered. One says that all my benefits have been stopped for failing to attend the appointment on 2nd Jan and the other said all my benefits have been stopped for failing to attend an appointment on the 3rd Jan. The first missed appointment should have been covered by the JSA28 and I've checked with Seetec's head office and had it confirmed that I didn't even have an appointment on the 3rd. I then panicked and ran round trying to sort it out, I phoned up the jobcenter call center and was explaining it all to a guy named John who promptly hung up the phone on me, mid conversation. I then visited my local Jobcenter office who said they couldn't help and I needed to phone the call center. Next I went to see my adviser at Seetec who agrees that I did everything correctly and I should not have had my benefits stopped. But he points out that while I've been running around in a panic I've forgotten about another appointment I had with them that day. So two days later I get another letter that says my benefits have been stopped for 13 weeks.

No money coming into my house at all for 13 weeks. I can't pay the bills and I can't eat, when I can't pay the bills I get bank charges so when I do get the money back all of it will go to paying off the charges so I still won't be able to pay the bills and will get more charges.

Several phone calls later I discover that the JSA28 that I filled in has gone missing, the local office say it was sent to head office but head office say it wasn't therefore, my money should be stopped. Now, when I filled the form in I had the common sense to insist they photocopied it and stamped, dated and signed it so I had a copy. So on the 11th Feb I posted them a copy of my copy of the JSA28 but still they refused to overturn the decision and give me my benefit. Cue, many angry phone calls to their head office and visits to the local office shouting at the staff and refusing to leave until I spoke to the manager during which time the security guard comes over which just makes me more angry. I spoke to the manager she told me a load of crap, that I have now had confirmed by head office to be lies, and the guard stands right behind my chair. So I jump up get in his face, threaten to put him on his arse and leave.

It has taken until today to get the jobcenter to admit that they were wrong and overturn the first two sanctions on my benefit. However, my explanation of running around in a panic trying to sort out their mistakes has not been accepted as a good enough reason for missing the third appointment. So my benefit has still been stopped and I won't get any money for the next 13 weeks. I've forced them to get another office to review it in the hope that they will agree with me and overturn the decision but this is my last chance and I don't hold out much hope. Even though they have admitted that they were wrong I'm still being punished.

Not really sure where I go from here, I won't get any decision made until next week sometime so I'm kind of stuck. I have a big job interview set up for Monday morning so somehow I've got to forget about all this so I can be at my best in the interview.

Bloody hell mate, what a situation
They messed me about a few times when I was unemployed and I had to run round like blue arsed fly trying to sort their shit out.
Once was when I was due to sign on, and I couldn't be there because I was in the hospital due to a possible heart attack (luckily it turned out to be nothing of the sort)
My wife and mum went down there to tell them why I couldn't be there. They were both worried sick and in tears, but the job centre still managed to muck it up.
The best thing to do is try to stay calm when you're talking to them.
Not easy, I know. Especially when it's their fault.
I remember being on the phone to one tool who asked me why I didn't go to the job centre directly from being let out of hospital. Keeping calm was not easy.
But the person you deal with has the potential to help you out and give you the best advice (notice I say potential, some of them are worse than useless) and it's better to have them onside rather than blowing your top. There were one or two people who went above and beyond to help me out.
Try to remember that whoever you spoke too on the phone, or in the job centre isn't personally at fault for the muck up. The person who has buggered this up is probably kept safe far behind the front lines and has never had to deal with an angry customer in their lives.
Due to the high rate of cock ups, the people in the job centre and on the phone will spend their day trying to talk to angry customers, and if you go in too gung ho they are going to want nothing more than to get rid of you.
When they meet someone who's been put out due to their fault and but is still using their please and thank you's, I think it's such a shock to the system they really try to be of some help.
I'd say the best thing to do right now is write a formal and very polite letter to the person dealing with your appeal. Don't forget, this person has got the decision in his/her hands weather to acknowledge that the mistake was down to their department and cut you a break, or say "well f*ck you, chuckles".
Explain in detail the circumstances leading up to the cutting of your benefit, and how it will effect you (don't forget to mention wife and kids if you have them).
Ask them to please reconsider their decision. I'm not saying you have to grovel, but the right attitude can have a big effect.
Word the letter carefully so that you are emphasising that you are not the one at fault, but also that you aren't being unduly critical of them.
Enclose copies of the documentation you've already submitted and take it down to the job centre. If you deal with someone you shouted at, apologise for being angry and ask if you can have the letter and documents delivered to the person handling your appeal. Be warned that they might not know who to send it to, so you might have to then ring their office up and see how you can get it into the right hands.
Obviously I can't guarantee anything, but it worked for me and I'd be hopeful they'll cut you a break.
If your money has already been stopped, ask at the job centre for details of how to apply for a crisis loan.
If you've not had one before, they'll assess your claim over the phone and will decide weather to award you a loan. If they do, you'll be given a lump sum that you'll pay back out of your JSA at a few £ a week.
It's not easy living on benefits. I've been there, done that, and with the grace of god i'll never have to do it again.
Good luck mate

Do you think they would let you read VEF in prison if you DID run them over??? (vehicular manslaughter, hell of a way to advance evolution)
