Maybe it's just wishful thinking, or a faulty memory, but I seem to recall that when UK Channel 4, or was it 5?, started there was supposed to be a clause in their charter that limited the amount of advertising they were allowed to show per hour. I know that I would drive Panda Bear nutty if I did but I'm sometimes tempted to get a stopwatch out and actually time the ad breaks because just recently I do feel all commercial channels are getting a bit silly.
What are the odds that each time you change channel you come across adverts? Because that's what seems to happen to me. Some channels only show self-advertising anyway so why not just leave it out? After all, we are watching your channel so why do you have to advertise it? Drives me bonkers.

Best way to watch TV as told to me by TV exec who doesnt own a TV
DVD or if you must use a TV - record and fast forward through the ads The thing that really gets me is cable TV in Australia Its been said over the years they have more Ads than free to air. You used to pay to avoid Ads - now they offer only 4/5 ad free channels out of 40+ There doesnt appear to be a premium level where you can have them removed except buying some more hardware - recording and fast forwarding through them. |

My first off topic post ... Ahem ... Ever ? ... As I`m more pleased than annoyed
Turns out they did
Sort of. Before speaking to "The Law" I`d spoken to everybody else around the place. You know the coffee seller , newsagent and such. Telling them what`d happened and my senti-mental attachment to the nicked wallet. Which is another reason I felt extremely resentful to the Roma`s by the time I got round to those weak arse policemen. As everybody was complaining about them hanging around at night in ever greater numbers causing trouble and acting like they could do whatever they wanted Anyway, Well the flower seller only called me this morning saying she`d found it under her stall So whomever took it must have grabbed the cards , threw it on the ground quick and kicked it under Katie`s stall. Granted it`s picked up scuff damage now But at least I got it back Plus those professional thieving rodents didn't make any money off me Huh Of course I offered her a reward , ten pound Only she wouldn't take it. Huh Why didn't I just buy a ten pound bunch of flowers instead. What`s the point Streeter lives miles away

The most annoying things are (as usual) other people! And their egocentrism.
Case 1 (this morning) Middle aged woman with shopping cart coming out of the door of the supermarket, completely blocks the way of an older woman with a rollator who wants to go in (because it is the shortest way for her). Doesn't even budge... Case 2 (yesterday) What's more annoying then cyclists yapping on their phone or texting while driving? Well, when on a narrow cycling lane (in busy traffic) the person before you (and other cyclists) suddenly brakes like mad and stops to answer their phone, right there! on that small lane (nearly causing an accident to the people behind him, including myself). |

Currently YET ANOTHER FCUKING anti-Brexit march in Central London!
Thousands of anti-Brexit activists are marching to Parliament today as part of a mass wave of protests dubbed "the Autumn of discontent". Pro-EU activist Sir Bob Geldof is among a host of speakers due to speak to crowds in Parliament Square on Saturday for the People’s March for EU rally. By 11am, crowds had already gathered in Hyde Park Corner before setting off through the streets to Westminster. Photos from the rally show a long line of activists, many draped in the iconic blue and yellow colours of the EU flag. Details: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/lond...-a3630546.html Jesus wept!

Nostradamus was Kidnapped by Aliens!!
Quote:
Years ago, the History Channel presented Russian Films about World War II. Yes, they were flawed and biased, but I learned the truth about who beat the Nazis, and how flawed and biased American and British films were. I gained a great respect for the peoples of the Soviet Union who survived the German/Hungarian/Romanian/Italian onslaught while struggling with the often problematic Stalinist government leadership. |

That was just a quick look at what's on tonight. But then again, there are a few good ones, Railroad Australia Mankind From Space Last Days Of Bin Laden 102 Minutes That Changed The World When Crocs Ate Dinosaurs That's about it ....
