As you say, looking back at the last couple of months, it does feel like a slow run-down to closure doesn't it. I guess featuring only a small group of girls rather than the whole lineup saves money, and some of the girls doubling up for both the Sun and Star was a clear sign they're getting less work from the Sun- although IIRC Jo, Jess Gray and Rosie Danvers were all appearing in the Star when the Sun first featured them.

Incidentally, I hadn't realised when she first appeared on P3 that Jess isn't a 'full-time' model- she mentioned on Twitter a week or two back that she's in her last year at university, so I guess we might not be seeing that much more of her, as she concentrates on her exams and whatever career plans she's studying towards.

Good points there about the rota, plus we've all moaned about the bland backgrounds that have been used for a majority of the shots as well. I am hoping for a relaunch, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well I wish success with her studies for Jess. Also debunks the myth that all Page Three Girls are 'bimbos'.

Don't write much on this forum. But I just have a couple of things to say on this current topic.

Firstly. Many models aren't full time. Most have a second job. Some of them work in shops or call centres just to name a couple I know of. As well you'll find most models aren't brainless bimbos. Many are at university or such. Some even put careers on hold to model. Lucy Pinder and Danielle Sharp are just two others apart from Jess to mention in recent times.

Finally. I think the writing has been on the wall for Glamour models in print and newspaper and magazine websites since the fall of the lads mags. Even the top shelf magazines are dying. The once king of them all with the famous mansion has even had to reinvent itself due to lack of interest. The thing that is killing them is the place this very forum is on. The internet. Places like the glamour sites and porn sites has just taken over completely as they are right there in front of you. So easy no one can even see if you don't want them too.

Thanks for the pointer that's a really well organised blog site.

I think the sun seems to be ashamed of p3 these days or at least its proven over the last year of p3 only online to not be a make or break for the popularity of the paper albeit that newsprint is on the decline.

As for p3 models being part time...hmmm maybe...or perhaps they quote the jobs they did before they got their tits out...can you really believe that girls would do the day job around their workmates knowing that the same workmates could open the paper to see them with their tits out? I know the companies I've worked for would have dismissed them for the reputation of the company...

As for page 3 right now I think this is probably a stand off between the photographer and the sun about money .

I think it will be back possibly even with a new photographer

I think the main crux of the issue is that times have changed; not in in terms of media access to pictures, but in terms of how the whole P3 thing is shot.

Back in its heyday they had Beverly Goodway, who was quite literally their 'bitch'. sent girls by the boat load & expected to make them all look good as well as different in some way or other. He took their pay packet so did their bidding to the letter.

Now though we have had several freelance snappers fighting over the rights to shoot P3 sets, while also spending time working on other projects. Add in the NMP3 Brigade & the answer isn't so hard to understand..... Times, attitudes, & staff have changed; along with how we actually view glamour images; I for one haven't brought a daily paper in years, I read it online, though do buy the odd Sunday one.

Well you'll find most glamour models only model for about a month a year in total. As many shoots are done over one day. They don't make enough money to live on. I know Stacey Poole just for one example works in a shop. You'd need to appear on p3 at least once every week just to make a livable wage. Most don't appear once every two, three weeks. So you'd rely on other modelling work. Most of these would be a few shoots a year. So yes you'll find just about every glamour model works as well as models.
