A Pentagon assessment has declared the only way to completely destroy all parts of North Korea's nuclear weapons programme is through a ground invasion.

Rear Admiral Michael Dumont expressed the opinion on behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in a letter to Congressman Ted Lieu.

Mr Dumont said calculating "even the roughest" potential casualty figures would be extremely difficult.

He also gave some detail on what the first hours of a war would involve.

"The only way to 'locate and destroy - with complete certainty - all components of North Korea's nuclear weapons programs' is through a ground invasion," he wrote in response to Congressman Lieu's questions about a potential conflict.

The risks involved included a potential nuclear counter-attack by North Korea while US forces attempted to disable its "deeply buried, underground facilities", he said.

"A classified briefing is the best venue for a detailed discussion," he added.

So there were 2,626,418 deaths in the US in 2014. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm and 3,988,076 births in that year. So if only 1,361,658 more people were gunned down in the street, your statement would make sense. Since our gun murder rate is 11-12 thousand a year, we would only have to increase by over a 100 times to make your post valid.

I am sure that we will soon have another occurrence of a mental retard killing people so prepare to vent again in the near future.

He served in the Air Force before being dishonorably discharged, how do you suppose this "mental disability" got past the examination you receive when enlisting, and overlooked by all his superiors while he was in the service, before being court martialed for assaulting his wife and child?

His in-laws were members of the church, though not in attendance that day. I suspect they were his most likely targets. He could have just gone to their house any time, but he planned on getting them at church and taking as many more with them as he could. Seems more a case of domestic terrorism, he wanted to terrorize the church and the community as well as kill his in-laws.

I'm well aware of this argument, it has been cynically !!!!!
BTW: Don't forget the dead shot by police officers and some who are protecting "their ground" in some US-countries. .

But - IMHO - the US is on the best way to let it will be coming true.
It reminds me anyhow at the death rate of a civil war in some other states.
