I always wondered, when the models did sets with one or two other girls, did they get their standard fee, or just a percentage of? If the former, the three girl shoots must have been expensive!

Seeing the covers is always interesting (back to my "history of the times"!) And of course was a lot more pulbic exposure than being in the interiors. I can remember Ken Howard expressing some suprise to me that the girls were willing to (as he said) "Show off their drawers in the local newsagents". Remember that most of these girls were amateurs, unlike a lot of the Page 3 girls who came along later and who were using publication as an avenue to bigger and better work.

I'm new here. Thanks to all the generous contributors.
I have a theory. It was 1968 as I recall, when women began wearing tights. Up till then most women wore suspender belts or girdles as day-to-day items of clothing, but after that they became bedroom wear for the benefit of us chaps. It seems to me that in the later S&S pix many of the girls are wearing what you might call a "bedroom" suspender belt, no more than some frilly elastic, whereas in the earlier pictures they wore "proper" suspender belts which an adventurous youth might reasonably expect to encounter in his early fumblings. I believe that the S&S photographers had to supply the suspender belts after 1968 and that many of the pictures feature the same flimsy example.

Interesting. It would intriguing to know how much of the clothing the photographers supplied. I know that the editors were quite specific in how they wanted the girls to pose (or so Ken Howard told me). That presumably applied to regulars like Ken who tended to be in every issue. Maybe less so to guys who sent in the odd one or two pics 'on spec'. I had a conversation with a guy quite a few years ago who saw a girl in the park and suggested that he take some pics of her for the Toco mags. This she agreed to and they did three or four sessions togther. Not sure you could approach women in the same way these days!

It would be great to get anyone who contributed to Toco to join in with this thread!

I too have wondered about this. On more than a few occasions I have noticed that the girls are wearing the same underwear and stockings, and sometimes the background is the same, yet the rest of their outfits are different. eg some photos have them wearing a dress and some have them in skirt and blouse.
