In my ward we can also use the blue one on Tuesdays..!!!!
Seriously; as another from the same era that grew up having to write everything down as comp's were still either too pricey, or just not that worthwhile; I am ashamed to admit that after all these years of using word and such things, my own writing is like that of a drunken spider on acid... yes, that bad. even i cant read my own notes sometimes.... so id hate it not to have access to a printer; leaving only the persons name and my own signature to have to write in; even for personal letters. sad, but true, its all down to technology; and im sure if we all had to go back to writing properly on a daily basis, all our handwriting would vastly improve over time. As for pens i use when i have to resort to writing things on paper.... Bic's hurt my fingers, the ridges dig into my finely skilled fingers (comes from not having picked up a guitar for many years; when my fingers were then much tougher and hardened) so i go for whatever pen i can find that has a round tube around it. the free ones with most puzzle books are quite good. lol.

Fountain pens, all the way. Esterbrooks, mostly - hand-ground by myself to cursive italic style. Many Pilot Elites, Sailors, Falcons, Platinums, Reforms, and a few Parkers. Also a Sheaffer Triumph which belonged to my dad and a Parker Vacumatic which my mother received as a graduation present around 1938 or so.
I've got about fifty of them. At least.

I'm an unabashed fan of Skilcraft pens, black, 01 ea. As a Designated Master Navigator of the U.S. Federal Bureaucracy System, these implements of written inscription were vital to me back in the day when, well, Moby Dick was a minnow:
Then one day, a long time ago, the Federal Government got carried away with ergonomically correct office equipment, so then this cool new pen came into light: Albeit, you had to use black ink unless you were in charge. Then, you got to use any colour that your heart desired. These two fine pens were cheap for me (read: FREE) and gave blind and handicapped people a job in manufacturing. Such a win-win situation! With these pens, I maintained my brain on this state-of-the-art technology recording media that smacked against "cutting edge" whilst maintaining "cost effectiveness" : Personally, I prefer the item in the middle as it could fit into my pocket along with my pen. Ah, those were days before retirement!

I'm not allowed to use any of them ever since the "incident" that marred my childhood. Closely reenacted here.

I used this pen back in the late 70s, early 80s and I got more problems with it than it was supposed to combat.

We had those skillcraft pens on the sub. There was quite a competition among us as to who could find the rarest color of the plastic piece that is underneath the little chrome clicker cover on the top of it.

Kids must use fountain pens untill they reach high school after which they're free to use whatever they want. I use any ballpoint pen that actually works. Maybe I should buy myself a nice pen that would always be in my pocket just like I re-discovered my old Casio digital watch (bought in 1996). I'm tired of checking time on my mobile phone. Back to old school.
