I've had a 16GB Nano G5 for a couple of years. When I bought it I thought of going for the Classic, but I went for the Nano and a 1TB hard disc for the library.
Even using AAC@320 kbps the disk is now half full, so this was the better option for me. My only gripe with the Nano is that the battery is flat after about 8 hours playing. My only advice to anybody buying an Ipod is to throw away the headphones that come with it. Even a cheap pair of Stennheisers are way better. Regards, etc

My sister has one and the problem she has isn't with the Classic per se, but with itunes which first screwed up her computer and now won't recognise her Ipod. I've suggested she ditch the Ipod/Itunes and go with a good mp3 player and Amazon. The Classic itself seems to be good but the restrictions and problems that come with Apple make it a poor choice IMO.
I myself have an 8gb Sony NWZ-E454 and a matching Sony dock. You *can* sync it and use it with it's own software if you want, but you don't have to, and I just drag and drop stuff in using Windows Explorer. |

If ITunes doesn't recognise the Ipod, you need to reset the Ipod (from within the Ipod itself) and reset it again from within ITunes.
Downloading from Amazon isn't an option for me as a lot of the stuff I listen to came originally off of vinyl, and it's unlikely to be released again. Also, you don't have to use ITunes, Floola works just as well (depending on which IWhatnot youv'e got). Also with Floola you can split your music library between different disks and even different computers. Here's a link to the homepage: http://www.floola.com/home/ Regards, etc.
