Default Disgraced male celebrities

This thread could get huge.

Rae Carruth - former wide receiver with the Carolina Panthers. He led rookie receivers in receptions and touchdowns in 1997 after being a first round draft pick.

Carruth's pregnant girlfriend, Cherica Adams, was shot dead in a drive by shooting. The unborn child was delivered prematurely and survived. Alledgedly, Carruth conspired with several other men to kill Adams to avoid paying child support for the child.

Carruth was charged with murder, conspiracy, and shooting into an occupied vehicle. Three other men were also charged with these offences.
On 19th January 2001, Carruth was acquitted of first-degree murder but convicted of conspiracy and two other charges in the fatal shooting of his pregnant girlfriend. He also was found guilty of shooting into an occupied vehicle and using a gun with intent to kill an unborn child. Carruth was spared the death penalty but was sentenced to at least 18 years, 11 months, with a maximum of 24 years, four months.

Here's a really weird one. It involves Mike Danton, a Canadian hockey player, his agent and his lawyer. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils and after feuding with the GM was traded to the St.Louis Blues.

In Spring 2004, two days after the Blues were eliminated from the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs by the San Jose Sharks, Danton was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder. On July 16, 2004, he pled guilty to attempting to hire a hitman, who was actually a police dispatcher, to murder David Frost, his agent, and was sentenced by U.S. District Judge William Stiehl to seven-and-a-half years in a United States federal prison. To this day, however, Frost denies that he was the target. Recently, Danton has claimed that his original target was his estranged father, Steve Jefferson.

In 2006, Frost was charged with 12 counts of sexual exploitation related to acts on three females and four males between the ages of 14 and 16, alleged to have occurred during the time that Frost was Danton's junior hockey coach.

In July 2008, in an article in the Denver Post, it was revealed that Howard Kieffer, the lawyer who represented Danton in his murder conspiracy case, had never graduated from law school and was not licensed to practice law. In September 2008, Kieffer pled not guilty to two felony charges and news reports revealed that he would not be representing himself.

In the early-mid 1980's, WGCI-FM radio personality Bob Wall was a rising star in Chicago broadcasting. His morning show helped push the urban contemporary station near the top of the ratings, and Wall himself was the #2 morning man in the Chicago market (second only to WGN-AM's iconic Wally Phillips). That came to a crashing halt in 1986, when he and his wife were charged with (and convicted of) molesting their teenage babysitter. Wall eventually worked for his father-in-law's construction business before he returned to radio. He almost got hired at another top Chicago urban station in 2001, but that comeback attempt fell through after public pressure. Wall was working in Little Rock under his real name (Bob Harrison) when he committed suicide in late 2002.

Who knows how far Wall could have gone, especially when you consider that his successors on the WGCI morning drive - Doug Banks and Tom Joyner - have gone on to national prominence in broadcasting.

Donny Moore, the star closer for the California, (now Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem,) Angels was one out away from securing the Angels' first American League championship in 1986 before giving up a 3 run home run to Dave Henderson of the Boston Red Sox. The Angels were leading the series 3 games to 1 at the time. The Sox then won the game in extra innings and went on to win the series and AL title.

Moore would decline into extreme drug and alcohol abuse finally murdering his wife and then taking his own life the next year.

Jayson Williams, an ex-NBA star, has been sentenced to five years in prison for accidently killing a limo driver in 2002.

The star apologized to the victim’s family, and said he wants to make a positive contribution to the society. Jason Williams will be eligible for parole after just 18 months.

On February 13, 2002, Williams fatally injured Christofi, a limo driver, who was hired by him to pick up his friends. Williams remained free on bond for 8 years after the incident.

Glad to see that 'disgrace' seems not to be something that troubles male 'celebs' in the UK.

I quite agree! The fact that the dead body of a young man with sexual injuries consistent with being raped by an elephant found floating in Michael Barrymore's pool was clearly just some kind of bizarre accident.

Default James Dean

In studying the life and career of the late great Sir Alec Guinness,
I ran across an interesting bit, and a clairvoyant one as well on his part:

-------------------------------------
Encounter with James Dean

On Friday, 23 September 1955, Guinness was at the Villa Capri restaurant in San Diego,
and found no table available. The actor James Dean, then filming "Giant", invited
Guinness to sit at his table. During lunch, Dean entertained Guinness with tales of Lee Strasberg
and boasted about his new car, a Porsche 550 Spyder. Upon leaving the restaurant, Dean
insisted on showing the gift-wrapped car to Guinness, who had a premonition that Dean would
die behind its wheel within the next week. Dean was killed in the car exactly one week later,
after being hit almost head-on by another vehicle.
-------------------------------------

My condolences to Sir Alec Guinness, a great actor.
May the Force be with you, always.

Apartfrom Barrymore, looks like were stuck with Richard Madeley nicking wine from Tesco.
He was innocent, of course, he merely forgot to pay. As you do.
