I'm going to be honest, I think it's the first time I've actually ever seen that happen on TV. There's a large TV in the canteen area where I work, and this news coverage was on the whole evening. Given the nature of the events that unfolded yesterday it doesn't seem real does it? |

Dallas Green, who brought the Philadelphia Phillies their first World Series Championship, has died at the age of 82. Green signed with the Phillies in 1955, making his major league pitching debut with the Phillies in 1960. Green also played for the New York Mets and Washington Senators, ending his career with a 20-22 record. He joined the Phillies front office after his playing career and in 1979 was named manager of the Phillies. In 1980, the Phils won their first World Series in only their third appearance in the Fall Classic.
In 1981, Green joined the Chicago Cubs front office, taking a jab the Cubs history with the slogan "Building a New Tradition." In 1989, Green was hired as manager of the New York Yankees, but was fired in August of that year with a record of 56-65. During the 1993 season, Green replaced Jeff Torborg as manager of the NY Mets but was fired after the 1996 season. Overall, Green's managerial record was 454-478.

Don't think this has been mentioned but Ronnie Moran who was employed for over 50 years at Liverpool FC has sadly passed away. Player, backroom staff, 'boot room boy' and temporary manager.

Ah Ronnie Moran will be very sorely missed by all us Liverpool fans as both a manager(temporary) and former player. He worked with some great players past and present and some great managers like Joe Fagan, Gerard Houlier and Roy Evans. I am sure there will be some tribute to him by Liverpool once the Internationals are out the way.
