Shane Warne Best Spin Deliveries :

Right, time for my predictions.
Pak vs WI - Depend completely upon which Pak team turns up; the good one or the bloody atrocious one. IMHO, Windies have the best chance of any of my underdogs of getting through to the semis, but I'd say this is a 60:40 probability in favour of Pak. Ind vs Aus - The classic of the quarter-finals, on paper. India have the best batting line-up, but they've now had two games where they've crumbled in the crucial final 10 overs. Australia aren't anything like the force they've been for the last 15-20 years, but if Johnson has one of his rare good days, they stand a chance. However, we can be absolutely certain that the pitch at Ahmedebad is going to be a raging bunsen, and Australia simply lack any spinning options beyond mediocre. I'm giving this 65:35 in India's favour. Eng vs SL - Swann is going to be neutralised by Sanga and Jayawardene, I think. Murali, Mendis (or Herath) and Malinga have far too much collective fire-power for our often very fragile batting line-up. I'm giving this 70:30 in Sri Lanka's favour. SA vs NZ - I'm trying to think of any way that NZ could win this, and I can't. So the only hope for them is that the Saffies are similarly minded and thus complacent. I'm giving this 75:25 in South Africa's favour. SEMI-FINALS: SL vs SA - I'd say that Sri Lanka are my favourites for this on home soil, but it'll be a very close game. 55:45 in Sri Lanka's favour. Ind vs Pak - Oooooh, what a mouth-watering prospect! The atmosphere will be electric, but I think the only Pak player who has stood out so far is Shahid Afridi, and then only as a bowler, and then mainly in the first three of their games. I'm going firmly with India to win. Probability 75:25 in their favour. FINAL: Ind vs SL Against the odds, I'd take to Sri Lanka to win the final, due to India's propensity to crumble under pressure, and the pressure on them will be immense. Probability 55:45 in their favour.

I think our predictions are very close Roger, the key difference being the potential SL v SA semi-final. I do agree that it will be a close one, and following on from my earlier prediction I'd extend this slightly to say that this will be the semi that produces the overall winner.

Just to add the odd comment on the next round
Pakistan v West Indies Regardless of which Pakistan turn up or who wins the toss, I believe they will br too much for the Windies. India v Australia One of the poorest Aussie ODI sides in a long time. Tait and Johnson far too wayward and this should give the Indians the opportunity to either, build a large score or chase down, whatever the Aussies make. Saffers V Kiwi's Should be academic for the Saffers, but if the Kiwi's put in a performance, the Saffers will choke again. Undecided who will go through. Sri Lanka v England Sri lLanka should progress to the semi's, but we have blown hot and cold and could be party poopers. Again undecided, All makes for an intersting end to the week |

http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...2701842111805# The key difference is that bowling underarm back in 1981 was completely within the laws of the game, just as the Bodyline tactic was within the laws back in 1932/33. If you create a list of the 10 most disgraceful moments in the history of cricket, I'd guess that at least 6 or 7 of them would involve Pakistani players (or in the case of Shakoor Rana, officials).

Trying to smash in a spectator's head with your cricket bat is quite disgraceful, too.

Completely out of order and totally disgraceful, but nonetheless a classic moment in the ongoing soap opera rivalry that is India vs Pakistan. The guy is a character, something that is arguably becoming a rarer thing in cricket since Warne and Flintoff retired. |

Imzamam ul Haq; one of the silliest men ever to achieve greatness.
Quote:
The ICC, with typical spinelessness, ruled the match drawn rather than an England victory by default; two years after the event! Michael Holding resigned from the committee of the ICC in order to free himself to express his grave displeasure at their decision to declare a drawn match: Quote:
Quote:
Imzamam was a bit a child. In refusing to resume the match after the tea interval, he effectively took his bat and ball home; pathetic. In 2007, Indian bowler Zaheer Khan took grave offence when an England fielder, probably Alastair Cook, persistently placed pink jelly babies on his batting crease, allegedly to symbolise effeminate spinelessness. Zaheer however had a better reply than Imzamam; he followed up the 4/59 he already took in India's first innings with a decsive 5/75 in England's second innings. The answer which Zaheer Khan knew and Imzamam did not was very simple. He who laughs last laughs longest.
