Sub shop sees miraculous turnaround after homelessness encampment cleared.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSg7doKUVrg Gee, what a surprise. His business rebounds after people no longer have to climb over junkies and mental patients to buy a sub. |

The homeless problem is definitely getting worse. I see them hanging out now where I have never seen any before.
Stopped at the hardware store yesterday, two obviously homeless black guys hanging out on the shopping plaza with loads of junk. They steal shopping carts from the nearby grocery store. And the town took down a glass enclosed bus stop shelter that was being used by homeless to hang out in - before it was gone, I noticed it was frequently full of homeless junk. It probably stank like an outhouse too. I saw people getting picked up by the bus a couple times, and they were standing across the street on the opposite corner, obviously they wanted not to be near the homeless den. The churchy people encourage all this, by feeding them and giving them stuff. Which brings more. They really need to bring back the mental institutions and work farms, and vagrancy laws. It's not actually necessary to make them work, just pack them off to some place where they will get basic meals and live under some kind of discipline, no booze or drugs. The violent ones get packed right off to the padded room and the thorazine regimen, when they start fucking up. Just knowing such a regime was in place would cause most of them to pack up and leave, I think. They can go to someplace that encourages their sleazy druggie lifestyle, like California. And poop on Roger's sidewalk, while Newsome cheers them on. Sorry Roger, couldn't resist.

The city isn't overrun with homeless people per sé (I saw no homeless encampments or tents although they may exist on the outskirts) but the homeless are sprinkled around everywhere. I have never seen a homeless person or panhandler in Savannah before. There is a larger police presence on the streets than I have seen before, as well. The police seem to be doing what they can to control the problem but all they can do is tell the homeless to move along and they just wander to the next square until they are shooed out of there, too. The city's large tourist trade is a panhandler's dream. None of them struck me as people who are simply down on their luck and actually have jobs or are living out of their cars like you see in some places. Most seemed like they had alcohol or substance abuse problems and many appeared mentally ill. Some of them would engage you make that very apparent. Sad to see that beautiful city like that. I wondered what first timers visiting there must think. It's not San Francisco by any means but sad, nonetheless. |

Your cops should do what they do in Utah and Colorado, staple a bus ticket to the West Coast on the shirt of the mentally ill and load them up just before the bus leaves.
Wouldn't be the first time someone got rid of a problem that way and it wouldn't be the last. |

Some homeless guy broke into the property of my Aunt's (80 years old) home and my mom's (96 years old) home - they live side by side. Relatives chased him away.
It's raining a lot in my area and the guy supposedly was wearing very little clothing - so I guess he is mentally ill. He took off before the police arrived. Repairing the doors will cost some, but he got away with nothing. And no, we didn't shoot him. Perhaps some bleeding heart will take him in. *he was discovered in the garage when one went outside to get the morning newspaper - so probably broke in to get out of the rainy weather. The description of the homeless guy is 6ft White guy, thin, 20-30 years old, dirty blonde hair - we think he will be coming back.
Probably will get one of those barking dog motion sensors - and load the shotgun. |

The guy in the garage had no shoes or socks, had on pj bottoms and a t-shirt - he may have been a guy who's girlfriend kicked him out of her house - and he just randomly decided to enter my Mom's garage.
I don't see how a homeless guy could have been living outside in these cold (for California) conditions in barefeet, pj bottoms and a t-shirt. |
