Another school of thought suggests: confuse the enemy tactics.
See, palo5, how you got all confused and disturbed you had to ask that question on VEF.

How on Earth you imagine anybody would be able to post questions on VEF and wait for the answers in the middle of war operation?

It simply works.

Well, it's about Australians more than Australia. They were Australian seamen on an Australian warship, but the warship was in the Persian Gulf, of all places, which makes the jungle camouflage even more interesting

It's true - they do it. Just seen it on NatGeo

Any answers?
They surely believe floating like trees, if the boat sinks.

Maybe they think the ship could run aground, and Persia & Arabia have jungles

Who knows what they think?

Oh, Australia-ns or Australia; now that we are cornered with our own argument, we are being cherry picking, aren't we?!
(I always wanted to do that. It sounds so smartass. I even practice it. In front of mirror. Just in my underpants. Wearing girlfriend's bra like a tank helmet on my head... But that's another story).

You know how they say:
"The beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

And that the environment shapes all the living creatures.

And when one grows up next to the living examples of nature's ludicrousness, such as a kangaroo, cassowary, echidna and platypus, who knows how the outer world looks like in that individual's eye. Oh, good old bearded Mr. Charles said over a veeeery loooong period of time, but it doesn't seem even him personally believes in his own words anymore.

Yeah, wearing a jungle uniform in Persian Gulf (and being a seaman) seems something even "Monty Python" crew couldn't come up with.

-Similar sort of hilarious dislocations aren't strange to political leaders worldwide. Good old G. W. Bush met with Putin in 2001, in his own words, "in Slovakia", while, in fact, the meeting took place in Slovenia. Never mind, it's close in American (and Russian) terms, and even the flag colours are the same, so what's the fuss?! If I remember it correctly, Clinton made a similar remark about hesitating to send his soldiers to the "swamps of Bosnia". Or was it, again, the unbeatable Mr. G. W.? Imagine the army preparations dependent on his decisions solely.

But I am also amazed by the armies in Europe during 17th and 18th century. They would get all fancied up like faggots, with feathered caps and colourful uniforms descendant armies today use in parades and as a tourist attraction (although I am sure each and every one of them would whoop my ass), and show up on the battlefield to exercise discipline and honour:

"It's your turn now, Herr Frederick!" - says while curling his sideburns.

No sillier than the British soldiery wearing bright red coats and white trousers in all sorts of past campaign locations...really blends in to the countryside

or the French wearing blue jackets and red trousers in the early days of WW1-REALLY sensible in the age of the Mauser!......even the British had discovered khaki by then...

Wars were an efficient solution to regulate male population by easily killing the soldiers.
Now we don't need anymore flashy colors, we have thermic cameras and biologic weapons.
But probably Australian government believes that there are too many males in the country.

He's 50 years old. In our Occidental societies, he's already considered as a wreck.

Palo5. How are men considered when they reach 50 years old in Russia?
