Kevin here. If I lived in Australia I would build me a house in the savannah just south of the city of Darwin which is in the northern most part of Australia in the Northern Territories. It is the hottest city in all of Australia, where temperatures rarely get below 60 degrees F, and reach 95 degrees F during the long hot summer. The only drawback I see is that this part of the country experiences some very destructive monsoons during the rainy season. I would have to have a special house built with extra strong water-proof walls. It might be best to build the house on alloy steel re-inforced stone stilts above the land that might get flooded by the monsoons. Below is a photo of the kind of house I would like, except the stilts would not be made of wood.
