I loathed Games afternoon and because my school was split over two sites it was very easy for me to play truant so truant I played.

I walked home with that briefcase held firmly across my groin and explained to my mum that I had to change my pants because I'd accidentally spilled paper-glue on them in my art class.

Nostalgia moment: I actually told my mum I'd spilled 'Gloy' paper-glue on my trousers. Members of a certain age may remember Gloy, back before the days of gluesticks it used to look like spunk in a bottle.

I have a twist on this question: Have you ever been caught though at the time you believed you hadn't been caught?

A couple days ago I wondered this question when I was reminded of my old college dorm roommate.

There are 2 specific times when I should have been busted badly by roommates. I am not going to go into specifics let me just say that literally one more step, maybe 3 or 4 in one instance, and I would have been extremely embarrassed.

The step not taken. At every other time my roommate would have walked further into the dorm room and/or apartment. I have wondered if maybe it wasn't luck but I was busted and didn't know I was busted?

I will be specific about the college dorm incident. My roommate opened the door suddenly, placed his books on the dresser, without walking all the way in the room and then closed the door and left just as suddenly. Was I busted in the mirror on the dresser? Was there a mirror on the dresser? I don't remember. It was a very long time ago. But for all these years I have felt I was very lucky. He was and is a really good guy and would not have wanted to embarrass me or himself for that matter.

For all these years have I thought I wasn't busted when I was? And my college dorm roommate was dating a very chatty society girl at the time. Oh Shit!!! Oh well.....
