Ever Been To The Good Ol' US of A
Ever been to the US
I guess the Yank members have If so, what's the freakiest thing you saw there That weapons thread and the US laws made me think of how freaky the place is, hence this thread. I've been once, early 90's, a mate and I had cross country driving trip there. Think it was in Mississippi, a diner, ordered our food and struck up a conversation with the person making our food, asked where we were from and we told him Australia. Then it started, he said, Australia, good Christian God fearing country .... My mate then said he didn't believe in God .... So this bloke told us he didn't serve non believers I thought he was joking till he chased us out

I lived in Texas for 3 years in the early 1990s and remember an Austin piano shop that proudly offered a free shotgun with every piano purchase/rental!

Yes - I have friends in Seattle and New Jersey.
But (gulp! sorry to say this for all our U.S. friends to read) I have avoided going back for many years. I just feel like a fish out of water there. Weird that somewhere that speaks English can seem so totally alien to an Englishman. |

What happens if you forget? I mean, I know it's anti-social if you do forget, but if you don't tip, there's not much they can do about it, is there? |

1st up, it's not our custom , so forgetting should be forgiven, ain't an excuse though when the waitresses husband, boyfriend or whatever he was came up to us in the parking lot and without any real warning started throwing fists
We got him, but he kept at it and while still wanting to fight demanded the tip His name had to have been Billy Bob

My first and only trip in 2005 to Las Vegas which I hated( mostly the vast amount of food wastage there which could have been given to the unseen tunnel dwellers ) and the noise of the machines which assailed your ears as soon as you came out of the lift. We stayed in the Mirage Hotel, where illusionists Siegfried & Roy performed with their trademark white tigers and it had the big feature volcano, although I never saw it. The other half of the holiday was Florida near the Keys area which was more relaxing, allowing time for swimming and walking in the sand. Unfortunately the first two days were agony as I had developed what I called ' Vegas finger ' ; my right index finger had swollen up due to hitting buttons and I had to eventually lance it either a needle - very painful but after that I was fine. The main carrots for going to Las Vegas were the Grand Canyon which was spectacular and breath-taking and the Hoover Dam which was awe-inspirin and did actually win some money on the feature gambling games too.😀
