Whats Your Scene ?

I took a sickie last night, it was a public holiday here on the Monday so a group of friends and their wives were going out for the night. My GF was going with them, since I got fed up with work I decided I'd go with them as we dont do it often enough anymore.

We went out for dinner and later to a few bars for a drink(s)

. Someone made a comment on how different it is going out for a night on the town compared to 20 years ago. I remember when hangin' around a bar and drinking yourself stupid was kind of cool, now it seems ya gotaa take drugs to have a good time

Me, I've always liked a good classy bar with a live band, particularly an acoustic duo

I'm just wondering what you all like,?

Dinner at a classy restaurant with friends or a date ?

Maybe afterwards

My favorite, just a good bar

Had some real good and equally disasterous nights at these places

Discos

The only good thing about discos is getting thrown out

So, what's your scene ?

I would say wherever you go, so long as you`ve got your mates with you, & good music, but not too loud that you cant hear yourselves , a few drinks, and a few real good laughs, always works for us.

Ditto, couldn't have put it better myself.

A few drinks in a nice quiet bar/pub, time to chat, then a nice meal in a decent restaurant. Finished off in a late pub with a good band - acoustic/aor pub band is good.

Though, of course, it depends on your definition of 'classy bar'

It doesn't need a live band but a good juke box is a must, a real pinball machine is an added plus. If the clothes you wear there (or at least start out wearing) have to go in the laundry the next day because of the smell that gets into them that's OK too.

If it's an "everybody goes there" or a "place to be seen" establishment count me out. But hell, it was years ago that I decided that having to be somewhere at a specific time to meet up with people to have fun was something I no longer wanted to participate in, I'll have fun and a good time when I want it. So since then it's been pretty much heading out when and at the time I feel like and enjoying whoever it is I happen to meet up with when I get there.

well said!

beer, conversation, more beer, girl watching, or no conversation works for me.

I could care less about "being seen". in my twenties that may have been different though.
now I just prefer going to places with great character, you know? I don't like dressing up
to go out, I'll save the good non-smelly clothes to wear at my future court date.

and music, whether live or of the juke-box variety, is always a welcome scene!

No, just kidding. I'm a harmless guy.

I like :

good music with class, like cool jazz
now and then a huge joint
exotic food
casual people with humor and a social mindset
philosophical people with some life experience (and a social mindset)
pretty casual philosophical woman with humor and some life experience (and big breasts )

Can be found mostly in Holland.

I hate :

law and order fascists
cops who are law and order fascists
people with business cards
boring and unimaginative people
snooty people with academic degrees (and mostly business cards)

Can be found mostly in Germany. Well, you can't generalize. It's just my subjective impression.

Today, I go out only very rarely. But when I go out I can usually be found in Holland. Or at a jazz festival in Germany. As in Moers or Münster.
