Fantastic pressing performance by the Tigers. I finally watched it yesterday. The Crows had no answer to the physicality that swamped them in the second half. That third quarter you felt that not a single kick was going to miss either.
I see that the Australian broadcasters have gone down the same route as British tv. Get a woman on the panel. OK. Daisy Pearce is hot but it stinks of the PC.

Congrats to Richmond - Momentum trumps everything when it comes to 1 off finals
The Crows pretty much froze - were lucky to be ahead 4-2 at quarter time given most of their key players werent even in the game. Hardwick - 4th finals campaign with Richmond and he wins all 3 finals wiping out the the previous 3 elimination losses. What a difference finishing top 4 makes for an MCG tenant - 3 home finals. Its curious the similarities to the Bulldogs Premiership Both teams cleaned out ageing experienced players and injected youth & pace. |

Geelong the big losers in this series. Finished higher than the Tigs, but due to AFL having to program a game at the "G", didn't get the home ground advantage they deserved. Really think it could have been so very different if it was played at Simonds Stadium... Not bagging the Tigers (Geez that GF effort was superb) , but making a team play a "HOME" final in front of 60,000+ opposition fans on THEIR home ground is bs imho.
And no, not a Cats fan either... |

Tbh. If I didn't know the ladder. I'd have said Richmond was the best team for the season. Even though they lost at Kardinia Park a few weeks before the finals. I reckon if they played there again for the qualifying final, I still think they would've beaten Geelong.
Even if in this alternate universe where that happened and they lost. I reckon they'd have smashed Sydney and, with the benefit of seeing what happened in the GF, beaten Adelaide in the prelim, then beat either Geelong or GWS in the GF. However, there's no doubt in my mind that Brandon Flowers should've won the Norm Smith. Effin nailed it! |

AFL draft anomalies
It seems quite bizarre that a 1-5 year player can now pick a club of their choice
to be traded to for various reasons even if still contracted Yet free agency isnt meant to start till year 6 restricted year 8 unrestricted The threat of being put into the draft for any club to pick you up is now no deterrent because all the clubs are colluding behind the scenes. Nick stevens 2003 at Port Power wanted Collingwood and got Carlton https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Stevens They've all learned from the Brett Chalmers (Port adelaide) (3 year ban) that if your going to break the draft rules dont do it in public. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Chalmers http://www.afl.com.au/news |

Football clubs in reality are nothing more than franchises especially with player movements
Hawthorn trading their clubs best and fairest tells everyone where loyalty is in football so not shocked. Its a business decision nothing else. The money these guys are on now is obviously too much to simply retire a 1 club player The lure of extending their days in football via assistant coaching roles afterwards seems to be the reason. We've seen any number of premiership players from Geelong , Hawthorn , Port Power & Sydney move to new clubs for 1-3 more years. |

AFL W
1 round in and a request for less negative football has been sent to every club
Kind of tells me the AFL are a joke because they are rolling in TV revenue which makes them untouchable. They were warned there wasnt the player base for an AFLW Competition and even with all the high profile code hoppers its been proven correct. AFL WOMEN'S boss Nicole Livingstone has defended the hotly debated directive issued to coaches aimed at preventing teams from putting extra players around the ball. From round two teams will be required to set up for centre bounces with five defenders, six midfielders and five forwards. expanded story http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-02-0...says-aflw-boss |
