The Boston Marathon Explosions
I'm surprised that no one has started a thread yet pertaining to this rather horrid and gloomy news.
At the moment, I'm going with the official line that it's too early to definitively say that it was a terrorist attack, although it seems unlikely to have been anything else as far as I can see. The only question is to whether it was an Al-Quaeda cell or something more homegrown, in my opinion. Anyone got any views, opinions, insights, etc. that they'd like to share?

A few crappy low tech bombs, possibly from a malcontent after watching Terminator. We will spend millions trying to find him.
Life goes on. |

But the millions spent finding the perpetrator(s) will be worth it, provided he is (they are) indeed found. Finding them is essential so that they can be shown to the world and properly humiliated, before being buried alive in Fort Landfill Federal Penitentiary until the 12th of Never.

It bothers me , just how low human beings will stoop for their own selfish needs.
to be honest i am livid about how low they value human life. I will pick on 1 life ( was ) 1 life of an 8 year old boy extinguished , for what??? as to the you tube clip , in the animal world there is always the scavengers and here's the human variety, its all on film i am sure when the dust settles ( pun intended-ish) i am they can help themselves to a nice criminal record to go with their jackets etc. |

Last week, the US Director of National Intelligence told Congress that the command structure of Al Qaeda has been destroyed or disrupted so much AQ no longer poses a threat to the mainland US, and that the surviving AQ cells in Mali, Syria, Libya etc. etc. are too busy fighting their own battles to take up the campaign.
I hope he is right. Feel for the boy's father. His son dead, his wife dismembered. Hundreds badly hurt. It is shouting at the wind to call the perpetrators for the vile creatures they are - but I hope and pray they are caught. |

As someone who faced this on a regular basis in Northern Ireland, and this is not political, spare a thought for the emergency service workers, nothing can prepare you for this kind of carnage, and they need to be in our thoughts along with the surviving victim and the bereaved. |

It is a tragedy, but... Thankfully to US foreign policy peoples in many countries are having such "fun" every month. So 3 dead and 170 wounded isn't a high price, comparing to that. A couple weeks ago Syrian rebels (US supported) shelled a university - 8-10 teenagers are killed, somewhere in Pakistan American drone missed it's target - 10 killed, American drone hits its target - 12 are killed. And it is part of their usual life.
Anyway, just think of it - only 3 killed by whole 2 bombs in such a dense crowd it is a HUGHE luck, even if some victims will die later in hospital! |

I just saw interview about that on Russian NTV channel. Veteran of Alfa spetsnaz sad two things: possibly it was done by single person or a small group - which is very hard to prevent by special services. And possibly bomb was designed to injure peoples, rather than killing them - terrorists lacked skills in making bombs or did it for purpose.
