Where Should I Stash My Porn Collection
I don't want to keep my porn collection on my hard drive anymore so I am looking for a free, web-based service where I can upload my stash and be assured it won't disappear.
It's mostly pics but also a few porn gifs and short porn vids. Your suggestions welcome -- pros/cons, etc. Thanks. Last edited by yeastieboy; May 2nd, 2013 at 05:56 AM.. |

Where have you been for the past two years ?
Many hosts were shut down and people lost a lot of data. If you want storage, you have to pay for it and you still might lose it. It's best to keep it where you are the only one that can access it. If you are worried about unauthorized access, you can encrypt it and protect it with a password.

Buy a nice big flash drive and store it there. Make a back-up copy if need be. Now if the reason you wish to do this is to avoid somebody finding it, understand that deleting the files from your hard drive will not remove it, it simply removes the locators that allow your computer to find it. The files will remain until you over-write the files with something else. There are several programs that will do this for you.

Online storage is a bad idea. External hard drives are cheap now. You can buy a 2 TB (2,000 GB!) hard drive for less than $100 bucks. buy another external HD to back up your data. Encrypt your data if you don't want someone seeing your files.

It was suggested to me to get an internal drive and an enclosure, rather than a drive sold specifically as an external drive as the heat dissipation is better with an internal. I won't say how long or how well it has worked since it seems to jinx the drive when it is talked about (superstition I know). But it serves me well To keep it secure you can always encrypt it. And if physical security is an issue then hide it when you aren't using it or lock it up somewhere.

Many hosting change their policy anytime they want Above you have read few suggestions, and that's good way, we should have backup...online and in real. Other thing : You should see total size of collections, then you can try services that provided multi upload to few hosting at once, at least always more wise to have more than one host to store your files.

I agree with others here that online storage is not reliable. Read the TOS of any file host and they tell you point blank: no guarantees. When I was growing up, my parents used to keep their most important papers in a fireproof box (the deed to the house, birth certificates, etc.), and I actually know someone whose house burned down and their papers survived inside a fireproof box, so I know they work. If you really want secure storage, back up your files onto a hard drive and keep the drive inside a fireproof box. And mark your calendar (two months? six months? a year from now?) to update the backup.

The problem with FREE SHARING hosts is their all moving in the same direction
smaller storage for free users inactive files get deleted after a set period even for even those paying just looking at the changes over the past couple of years Thats before you factor in things like wether the host itself will be targetted by certain competitors like tube site owners who have a disturbingly good track record of getting payment processors to stop doing business with numerous hosts which has ended in their demise. |

For encrypting you can have a look at TrueCrypt. http://www.truecrypt.org/ |
