Hey Palo.....
for reference purposes.....how about you tell us how fast your upload and download speed is with your internet connection. Reason being.....that although download speeds are most definitely held back on virtually every site for free users, the opposite can be said for upload speed......with most being only limited by one's ISP bandwidth limitations. For instance...... lets say a file host has a limit of 100 kbs for free users. Their download speeds are going to be 100 kbs tops, for everyone other than dial up internet connections, while upload speeds are going to vary greatly. Know what I mean? Just curious, because your upload speeds seem insanely fast to me lol. |

My nominal connection is 100/10 Mbs but I never get anything close Upload speeds surprise me as a free user, but they're absolutely true, at least for me. Some time ago I was an RS subscriber: it took hours to get a 700-800 MB movie uploaded and you had to split files. Some newer hosts are 5-10 times faster these days, and some accept 20 GB files - and that's for free users |

Your discussion on upload speeds seemed interesting to me, because those are hardly ever regulated if at all. I've never seen a bit of difference in upload speed from one host to another, free or premium. But then I suspect that one's ISP bandwidth has to have at least some play in that equation too. My connection speed seems simply blazing to me lol, but then being on dial up for years, then gradually moving up to a "high speed" connection of 1.5/32kb then to what I have now of 10/1, I have to say that my "Model T" DSL connection, is very jealous of your "Lamborghini" connection! lol On those those sites with 20 gig upload per file limits for free users, I can't imagine those links for those files that big lasting too awfully long. Do you know? |

All I know is that hosts die sooner or later, technology improves, and we should use advantages when we see them. My crystal ball is no clearer than anyone else's

me I was in the runnin' to shag Suzi Tompkins.....the best lookin' gal in school, and she ended up with some other fella! lol Seriously though, unless you use a file host consistently over a period of time, seems kinda rash to me to judge any one of em "good" or "bad". What's good today, may not be tomorrow, and vice versa. You're sure right about file hosts dying, but that doesn't mean that they all do, which the two oldest of them all......Rapidshare and Filefactory, can attest to. 3 years ago, you might have said, that all you knew was that file hosts change their names. Which alot of them would do, after promising rewards and not following up on that promise. Of course after the big MU take down, and the file host destruction following that to so many others in the business, what exactly has changed? File hosts closing only to open up under other company names? The more things change the more they stay the same, I believe is how the old saying goes isn't it? lol It all boils down to the purpose of your upload if you're uploading something. Are you wanting to share it for a short while, or indefinitely? The answer to that query, is going to be different depending on what one wants, is what I believe....don't you Palo? At any rate.......interesting stats there bud......thanks! |

Did I Miss Something?
I thought that if the Members downloaded your dummy file and posted
back their results, you would give a global or local idea of what was the 'normal' or expected. (Country by Country..territory by territory). My i/p provided the file in 31 minutes, but I have experinced that Mediafire surpasses all expectations in delivery - it takes minutes, and done! - it's what you should expect! Who wants to wait all day for a 'maybe' file ? drink, smoke or eat for World Peace.. just TRY & remember how to FLOW slimol55 |
