A few David Frost facts-gleaned from the recent tribute done on BBC2-it's really good and available on BBCiplayer www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer if you wish to see it.

1) David was born in Kent as David Paradine Frost-his father was a Methodist preacher.

2) David once got the better of Muhammad Ali who had misquoted the Bible at him and David got it right-even though Ali went off set to fetch his own Bible.

3) David Paradine Productions was responsible for production of quiz show 'Through the Keyhole' both for ITV then the BBC.

4) David was turned by every American network when trying to sell the idea of him interviewing Richard Nixon. In the end with very little sponsorship he raised nearly $2m of his own money. He even sold his shares he had in London Weekend Television, which had held onto them would have been worth 37m later!

5) David had three sons with his second wife Lady Carina Fitzalan Howard called Miles, Wilfred and George.

6) He is most known for his satirical show That Was the Week That Was or TW3 for short. Along with regulars Kenneth Cope, (Roy Kinnear, Willie Rushton deceased) Lance Percival(made up topical calypso songs), singer Millicent Martn, journalist Bernard Levn(once famously confronted on live television by an irate husband who thought that Levin had been mean about a play his wife had appeared in), and Frankie Howerd. He was a guest presenter on the US version(which didn't last very long) when the Briitish version finished. He is also remembered for his 'trial by television' approach when confronting the fraudster Dr. Emil Savundra, who showed very little remorse for the stories that the audience, he had ripped off, told.

7) He created The Frost Report which brought together many members of the Monty Python team(John Cleese, Michael Palin & Terry Jones wrote for the show) and other teams like The Goodies(Graham Garden, Tim Brooke-Taylor & Bill Oddie) Most notably he got Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett together and the rest as they say is history. Other members of the team included funny lady Sheila Steifel. He also created The Frost Programme for ITV.

8) He was the only British chat-show host to make it in America and host shows in both countries as well down under in Australia.

9) He had a rivalry with comic writer/performer Peter Cook who accused him of stealing material for his shows - he and Dudley Moore performed on stage whereas David performed on television-Probably saw it as one up on them.

10) He is the only chat-show/presenter to get TWO serving Prime Ministers/Presidents of the United States together. He famously interviewed both Tony Blair & Bill Clinton about the Northern Irish peace agreement.

11) His Nixon Interviews were seen by over 43m people around the world and made Frost a massive global icon, and one of the most well-known men in the world. His producer John Birt went from being at LWT(London Weekend Television) to the BBC's new Director-General.

12) Frost was most impressed with Michael Sheen's portrayal of him in the film 'Frost/Nixon' directed by Ron Howard(it had been adapted from a stage play by Peter Morgan) David Frost died 31st August, 2013 on board the Queen Elizabeth Cunard liner where he had been due to give a speech.

Peter Cook stated that the only regret he had in life was saving David Frost from drowning.

The first notes of "Also Sprach Zarathustra" a/k/a the theme to "2001: A Space Odyssey" are the notes of the overtone series, those notes that vibrate sympathetically with the note being played. This subconciously gives the opening its' sense of grand majesty and wonder that Kubrick was looking for in the title sequence.

These are, if the note being played is a "c", the octave above, (also c) a fifth above that (g) and a fourth above that (c again).

There have been many songs written about Hollywood greats like Bette Davis Eyes-Kim Carnes, Clint Eastwood(instrumental)-Gorillaz and Robert De Niro's Waiting-Bananarama, but the one song that actually had the star on it was Madness's 'Michael Caine' with Sir Michael saying his famous catchphrase "My name is..." (which was actually coined by Peter Sellers on his answerphone in an impersonation of him) Michael can be heard saying that as well "I, am Michael Caine" and at the end of the tape and record version can be heard "I think we got it there don't you?" Now not a lot of people now that.!

I neglected to include that David Frost was the instigator of TV-AM(formerly Good Morning Britain) the second national breakfast programme for this country in the 1908s. The BBC was the first with Breakfast Time but David Frost's programme made it's debut several weeks later. It was made up of five presenters: Himself, Anna Ford, Robert Key, Angela Rippon & Michael Parkinson. It didn't last very long being trounced in the ratings battle by the BBC - probably thanks to the informal setting and Frank Bough's cuddly jumpers!

I thought David Frost made a huge mistake with TV AM, especially when he came up with "a mission to explain" as its mission statement. Although in the early eighties we didn't use mission statements.

A few "did you knows" about Bizet's opera Carmen.

Did you know that Bizet invented the word "toreador"?
Did you know that Beyonce made her actinf debut in a hip-hop version of Carmen?

Having recently been treated for a wound at the Royal Infirmary ,I learned from the Doctor ( an Army medic in training ) that superglue was invented and used extensively since the Vietman war to close up wounds instead of sutures.
