Default Actress: Patricia Cutts

Patricia Cutts was born in London, the daughter of a writer. She studied acting at RADA, and from the start her career took on a transatlantic feel with film and television work in both the US and UK throughout the 1950's. Her first role was a bit part in the rather cheaply made b&w post-War British family film 'Just William's Luck' in 1947 .... this set the scene for much of her career as it was followed with other minor roles in a number of instantly forgettable films. Perhaps the highlights, were small parts in US films such as 'I Was a Male War Bride', 'The Man Who Loved Redheads' and the US television shows 'Alfred Hitchcock Presents', 'Perry Mason' and as 'Milady de Winter' in the US TV movie, 'Family Classics: The Three Musketeers'. In truth until the 1970's, her career was almost entirely cast in minor or wholly uncredited parts.

However in the 1970's she got a break, and was cast as 'Charlotte 'Lottie' Dean' in the UK TV series 'Spyder's Web', but was then out of work for a couple of years. But she finally got what most actors/actresses crave almost as much as the limelight .... the chance of regular employment. In 1974 she was cast as 'Blanche Hunt', a regular character role (it only ended in 2009 with the death of the actress who took on the role), in the hugely popular UK TV soap 'Coronation Street' and the future looked secure. But after just two episodes, Cutts was found dead from an apparent overdose of alcohol and barbiturates .... no reason for the combination overdose was ever found, and a verdict of suicide was pronounced.

Trivia:
  • She was briefly married to William Nichols, associate producer of the "The United States Steel Hour".
  • She occasionally used the stage name of Patricia Wayne.
  • Absconded from a boarding school and joined a repertory company at the age of 14.
Oops Moment:

As agreed earlier in the thread, suicide per se is not a reason to be featured in the thread (bad taste reasons), but Ms Cutts has a reason to be here, that's all too familiar to regular readers of this thread ... the car incident. In November 1958, she was arrested at her Hollywood home on suspicion of a hit-and-run felony on Laurel Canyon Boulevard near Kirkwood Drive in Hollywood, the other driver was a Mrs. Joseph Hallal. She was freed on a $500 bond.

She was then jailed, and charged and was bound for trial in Los Angeles following a preliminary hearing at the Hall of Justice. Municipal Judge Ben Koenig orders her to appear for arraignment in the Superior Court. She was called to Los Angeles Superior Court again in January 1959, where arguments by her legal weasel are heard. He suggests that as one witness had testified seeing Cutts talk with Mrs. Hallal following the accident, and yet Mrs Hallal was was so shaken up in the accident that she did not remember talking to her or even seeing her, and therefore she wouldn't be a credible witness to the events.

Judge Walter R. Evans granted the motion to dismiss all the charges on the legal technicality that under the law Miss Cutts should have given her name to the other driver. Phew, close escape ....

Pictures:

She has no thread at present, so a reasonably decent set of photos below. There is not actually many decent pics out there as she was ultimately just a support character actress. No follow ups please as these are the best of whats out there and she is very minor/forgotten.

Default Actress: Janet Achurch

Janet Achurch (b. Janet Sharp), was a Manchester Girl .... sadly her mother died in the birth, and her father brought her up with the help of her maternal grandparents. They managed the 'Theatre Royal' in Manchester. She became an actress after ending her education in 1881, and joining Sarah Thorne's stock company in Margate as a ingenue actress. Her first appearance on stage was in 1883 at the 'Olympic Theatre' in London in the farce 'Betsy Baker' and from that date until to her retirement in 1913, she appeared in a wide range of roles, in the UK as well as touring the Empire (Australia, New Zealand, Tasmania, India, and Egypt).

During her career she enjoyed much success, notably when George Bernard Shaw wrote the title role of his play 'Candida' for her to perform the lead .... She then took on the role as 'Nora' in the English premiere of Ibsen's 'A Doll's House', which did much to enhance Ibsen's standing in England. In 1889 she took over management of the 'Novelty Theatre' in London.

Her last performance was in 1913 as 'Merete Bery' in Wiers-Jenssen's 'The Witch', and she declared her retirement as soon as the production closed .... stating that she was 'exhausted' and suffering 'ill health'. She died three years later on 11 September 1916, aged 52, at Ventnor, Isle of Wight. She married twice, St Aubyn Miller in 1884 at Margate, and secondly, to Charles Martin in 1889 at Chelsea ... no surviving children.

Trivia:
  • Janet Achurch's obituary appears in The London Times, Friday, September 15, 1916; pg. 9.
  • One of her husbands (I can't find which one), allegedly killed himself by drowning in a suit of armour.
Oops

Over her career she developed an increasing dependence on morphine to get her over ailments and to support her in tours. In 1889, during her tour in Egypt with her actor husband Charles Charrington, she gave birth to a stillborn child in Cairo, almost dying herself during the birth. The lingering pains increased her addiction to morphine .... this wasn't uncommon for ladies in those days. She didn't decrease her dependence after her retirement and her sudden death in 1916, aged 52, was attributed to "morphine poisoning".

Pictures:

Only a few .... she has no thread.

Default Model & DJ: Domino Harvey

Domino Harvey was born to actor Laurence Harvey, and Paulene Stone, a fashion model ... her father died of cancer in 1973, and she was brought up by her mother in Belgravia, London. Like many girls who lose a parent early, she had a troubled childhood, despite all the advantages of wealth. She was often involved in fighting, and was expelled from a couple of her boarding schools. So perhaps its no surprise that she dropped out of school as a teenager to pursue a career in modeling ... however with little apparent success.

She then followed the usual polymath route so beloved of our ladies, and at age 18, while she lived in Notting Hill, she worked as a DJ at several clubs in London, even managing one of them, and also designing and selling T-shirts at Kensington Market. Still a restless girl like her wasn't going to get anywhere selling T Shirts, so, after brief period kibbutzing in Israel, she decanted to the US where her mother had relocated after a remarriage.

She lived above the garage of her mother's home in Beverly Hills, and initially worked as a DJ at clubs in Los Angeles, but then went to work on a ranch near San Diego, and served as a volunteer firefighter for a year .... she followed this up by taking courses in fire science, and qualifying as an emergency medical technician. She applied unsuccessfully to the Los Angeles Fire Department'

Oops:

It was after this rejection by the fire department that her life took the twist that drew her a limited celebrity status but also her downfall ..... she enrolled on a short course to become a bail recovery agent, or bounty hunter. She took employment at a bail bond agency in South Los Angeles (run by one Celes King III) ... needless to say, at that time there were very few female bounty agents, and none who were British Sloane Rangers! She apparently enjoyed the work, and she primarily tracked down drug dealers and thieves, but occasionally tracked murderers. Martinez, one of her partners, later stated that she was one of the most skilled bounty hunters he knew. She later said that she chose bounty hunting for the 'excitement of the work', even though it was not a high-paying job.

After she began working as a bounty hunter, 'The Daily Mail' newspaper, published an article about her, from this Director Tony Scott contacted her ... they became friends, and he directed a film inspired by her life called 'Domino', which was released in October 2005.

Little White Lies

She may have exaggerated her modelling career, as her claims to have attended the 'Lee Strasberg Institute' and been represented by the 'Ford Modeling Agency' later proved to be unverifiable .... ah well.

Guns and Roses

After her friends trained her in the use of firearms, she developed a keen, if possibly unhealthy, interest in weapons, and she started collecting swords and knives, all the while keeping a number of AK-47s in her apartment.

Drugs:

She had developed a very bad drug habit ... probably initially in the club scene in London and LA, when she was a DJ. But it was claimed that the Bounty hunters, with whom she worked would often keep and use any drugs that they found when arresting criminals ... this wasn't an insubstantial amount either. Martinez later stated that they often used marijuana, cocaine, and heroin. As a result, she entered drug rehabilitation clinics four times, with each stay funded by her mother. her last stay, was two years in hawaii, but when she returned to California in 2001, she was rejected when she attempted to become a bounty hunter again ... she wasn't clear of her drug habits.

Arrests:

In 2003, she was arrested on charges of possession of crystal methamphetamine after Sherriff's deputies found the drug at her home while investigating a burglar alarm call-out. She pleaded guilty to drug possession charges and attended a treatment program; the arrest was consequently removed from her criminal record.

However in May 2005, she was arrested again, this time on federal charges of trafficking methamphetamine. She spent three weeks in a Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles before she posted $1 million bail and was placed under house arrest where she was tagged with an electric monitoring ankle bracelet. She maintained that she was innocent and had been set up. However such was her dependancy that despite living with a a "sober guardian", she was discovered her unconscious in her bathtub and she later died. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that she had overdosed on the painkiller drug fentanyl .... it wasn't ruled if this was suicide, or just a misjudgement of amounts, because it wasn't her normal drug of recreation.

She did not live to see the film 'Domino' finished. Not our normal type of celeb, but she ticks all the boxes, Modelling, DJ, Newspaper coverage, and Film based on her life.

Trivia:
  • As a bounty hunter in the mid-1990s, Harvey earned roughly $30,000–40,000 annually.
  • Promotional featurettes for the movie include Harvey on set with the cast and crew.
  • She contributed to the songs on the soundtrack, and also attended the movie's wrap party in December 2004.
  • Harvey herself appears at the very end of the cast credits of the film.
  • Domino Harvey, was played by Keira Knightley in the film based on her life.
Pictures:

Just a few illustrative ones .... most (99%) of the pictures out there are Keira Knightley from the film (see film poster below), so please don't post those here.

Default 'Wife Swap' show TV 'star': Alicia Guastaferro

Oops from the start .... Alicia Guastaferro, was just 15 (or maybe 16 reports vary), when she appeared in a 2008 episode of ABC show 'Wife Swap' ... where she was portrayed as a "spoiled brat" beauty queen on the show. Her parents seemed to give her just about anything she wanted, including 'a Christmas present every day of the year' (her parents apparently kept a Christmas tree up all year long, because they gave her a present every day. They claimed their philosophy is 'Give her everything she wants, don't give her any rules. Why upset her?') ..... She said that "I live a very carefree life where I have no chores," Guastaferro was quoted as saying in the episode. "I have anything I want. It's a great life. I love it." She also said, "I do feel sorry for people that are not gorgeous people."

Legal Weasels:

She's picked up the habit of suing ....

#1 Guastaferro was involved in a lawsuit against 'Mustang Sally's Spirits and Grill', a company that owns several local strip clubs. A newspaper reported that federal court documents filed by Guastaferro, contend she worked as 'a dancer' at the clubs, and was allegedly denied overtime pay and other compensation.

#2 Also in 2010 she decided to sue ABC TV and Disney for $100 million.... yes $100 million. Her reasons, apart from those in the lawsuit were covered by the quote, that her mom, Karen, 'got $20,000 from the show, she didn't get a dime'. Her suit alleged the show was staged and as a result of the episode, she claims she 'suffered panic attacks' and was even forced to transfer schools due to the ridicule. Karen Guastaferro signed up for the show and signed consent for her daughter to be featured, which was a good enough defence. However as is the way in the US, the case was settled out of court, but obviously not for even $1 million, as later events showed.

#3 She made the news again last month, when she was arrested for Criminal Impersonation, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Prostitution. The State police were called by a concerned motorist to a New York Thruway service area in Pembroke, 30 miles outside of Buffalo, after he saw a car drive erratically before stopping at the travel plaza. The police found the car illegally parked, with the engine running and the lights on.
The Driver, a 54 yr old male, who was a later identified as a lawyer from Rochester, was "slumped over the steering wheel passed out", while Guastaferro was slumped over in the passenger seat. After waking the attorney, the police officer observed the man to have, "slurred speech, watery/bloodshot eyes and strong odor of beverage alcohol on his breath". The man refused to submit to a sobriety test, and was arrested on a charge of DWI and other criminal violations, including patronizing a prostitute and giving alcohol to a minor (she was under the age of 21). The lawyer was later reported as saying, he denies all the "lurid, salacious and absolutely incorrect allegations" ... According to 'The Democrat & Chronicle', he has two prior convictions for DWI.

However, when the troopers questioned Guastaferro, she allegedly gave officers the identification for a "Brittany Y. Myers," with a birth date of Sept. 23, 1989. After further questioning, she admitted she was Alicia Guastaferro and was born on Sept. 11, 1991, police said. The police report also said troopers found pills in Guastaferro's possession, which she claimed were the antidepressant Paxil and tranquilizer Valium.

According to the police report, once she started singing ... a canary would have struggled to match her. Guastaferro told police that the lawyer had given her the fake identification and said he had taken her to dinner and purchased alcoholic beverages for her. Upon further questioning, she told police that he regularly paid her $500 to $700 to perform sexual acts and spend the night with him.

According to the report .... the conversation reads like this.
Quote:
"$500 to $700 a night? To consummate?" the trooper asked.
"I'm sorry. I don't know what you mean," Guastaferro replied.
"For sexual favors?" the trooper said.
"Ya," Guastaferro said. "We have sex ... He calls me about two times a month."
Asked by the officer if she had been paid that night, Guastaferro allegedly replied, "He pays me in the morning."
To finish this tale off, she apparently married last November in Niagara Falls, NY ... but the two separated a few months ago. According to the husband, Alicia worked as a dancer and had a bad habit of meeting up with male customers ... so he called it quits on the relationship and moved to Florida. he is quoted as saying that "With her not coming home on several occasions, the prostitution arrest is no surprise to me." He says they are getting divorced but that he believes Alicia was involved in prostitution to help her family out of a tough financial situation.

Trivia:
  • The rest of the Guastaferro family have had numerous other run-ins with the law, including her father, Ralph, being imprisoned for money laundering ($1.2 million in a Canadian telemarketing scheme). Her mother, Karen, was convicted of tax evasion and got a suspended sentence.
Pictures:

She has not done any nudes, so nothing illegal, but I have also tried to make sure the pictures are post turning 18 .... so be careful so as not to break any rules.

The legal weasel ....

Default Actress: Sylvia Kristel

Sylvia Kristel was born in Utrecht, Netherlands, as the daughter of Jean an Inn keeper from Utrecht. Her parents divorced when she was just 14 years old with a younger sister, after her father left home for another woman. "It was the saddest thing that ever happened to me". She left school able to speak Dutch, English, French, German and Italian, with a reported IQ of 164 which had allowed her to skip four grades in school. She had told her mother that she planned on being a teacher. In the event she worked in a bar, as a secretary and even pumped gas while struggling to succeed as a dancer prior to becoming a model and an actress.

However, perhaps its no surprise if she hit the road to 'celebdom' in that most traditional of manners, the beauty contest, when she entered and won the Miss TV Europe contest in 1973 and started modelling. She then enjoyed a mixed career, including appearing in the television series 'My Riviera', filmed at her home in St Tropez, and the TV series 'The Swing Girls', but had regular work in over 58 film titles .... but her name was forever immortalised by the movie to which she would be permanently linked. In other words, the 'Oops moment' came almost immediately in her celebrity career.

She married twice, first to an American businessman which ended after five months, and then to film producer Phillippe Blot. She later spent a decade with Belgian radio producer Fred De Vree, until his death. She was a heavy smoker of unfiltered cigarettes from the age of eleven, and was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2001, and in 2003 she moved back to Amsterdam in Holland. Despite several bouts of treatment for her cancers, she died in her sleep, aged 60, on 18th October 2012.

No Regrets:

In 1974, her then boyfriend, who wanted to go to Asia, persuaded her to star in his soft-core film 'Emmanuelle' as the eponymous lead character, and assured her it would never be shown in Holland 'so as not to mortify her religious mother'. The film was originally banned in France, but went on to become one of the most successful French films ever produced, and one of the most infamous movies in the world ..... of course it was shown in Holland.

She was instantly typecast as 'Emmanuelle' or characters in that mould, for example playing 'Lady Chatterley's Lover' in 1981 and a nudity-filled biopic of the World War I spy 'Mata Hari'. A move to the US didn't improve matters .... a brief comic turn in the Get Smart revival film 'The Nude Bomb' in 1980, was countered by the controversial 1981 sex comedy 'Private Lessons'. She last played 'Emmanuelle' in the early 1990's.

Sex and Drugs and ...:

Sex:

In her 2006 autobiography Nue she claims to have been sexually abused by an elderly guest at the hotel at the age of nine, an event which she has refused to discuss in detail but it seems to have impacted her.

Her autobiography Nue (Nude) details a turbulent personal life blighted by addictions to drugs, alcohol, and her quest for a father figure which resulted in some harmful relationships with older men. To name a few Hugo Claus, a Belgian author twenty-seven years her senior, Ian McShane, an actor ten years her senior.

Drugs:

About two years in to the mcShane years, she began using cocaine, and while supporting this expensive cocaine habit, she made a number of poor decisions, including agreeing to sell her interest in 'Private Lessons' to her agent on a whim for $150,000, which grossed over $26 million domestically in the US (and over $50,000,000 worldwide) .... bang went her wealth moment.

Quote:

About cocaine: a "supervitamin, a very fashionable substance, without danger, but expensive, far more exciting than drowning in alcohol - a fuel necessary to stay in the swing."

Trivia:
  • In May 2006, she received an award at the Tribeca Film Festival, New York for directing the animated short film "Topor and Me", written by Ruud Den Dryver.
  • Kristel's autobiography Nue (Nude) was published in France. It was translated into English as 'Undressing Emmanuelle: A Memoir', and received some positive reviews.
Pictures:

She has a large thread here already, so a few illustrative pics only (sorry dupes inevitable, however all mine are cleaned up), but as usual, any and all follow ups (including any biographical info), to her thread please

Default Actress & Singer: Taryn Manning

Taryn Manning schooled at San Diego Ca Orange County High School of the Arts. She began acting in the late 1990s, appearing in small roles in several film and television productions ....

Movies:

In 1999, she was featured in an independent film called 'Speedway Junky' but her real breakthrough was was as 'Nola' in the 2005 film 'Hustle & Flow'. In 2007, she played 'Ivy Chitty' on the short-lived, but critically acclaimed Fox television series 'Drive'. She also played 'Rita Cherry' on four episodes of the TV 'Sons of Anarchy'. Currently she is in the supernatural Web Series 'The Unknown'.

Music is my 1st love, and it will be my last:

In 2003, Manning and her brother Kellin formed the band 'Boomkat', which signed to DreamWorks Records, which was their label from 2002 to 2004. The band closed out 2003 as the #5 Hot Dance Club Play Artist for the year in Billboard Magazine.

She also soloed when she sang a rendition of "I'll Take You There" with Tweet in several Gap commercials. She sang her first solo single, "So Talented" in an episode of 'Melrose Place', and her single 'Send Me Your Love' was released digitally worldwide, and she released. a dance single, "Send Me Your Love," both in 2012. She also works as a 'DJ' and was cover featured in the yearly "Sex & Music" issue of Pl*yboy for April 2011.

As you can probably tell, I have no idea who this girl is on any level of awareness

Oops:

She was arrested for assaulting her makeup artist in New York, reportedly kicking and punching Holly Hartman, her 23-year-old makeup artist, in her room at New York's 'Dream Downton' hotel. Manning was charged with assault; in the meantime, she has hired a criminal defense attorney.

But in a strange event, reports say that Holly Hartman now wants to drop all charges .... Ms Manning's criminal defense attorney reported that Manning and Hartman are actually very close friends, who are also 'roommates' (ahem ... that old chestnut ), and that it was all just a drunken fight. Apparently a 'night of partying' reportedly led to an altercation, which got out of hand.

Trivia:
  • She has been the State Champion in Karate in Arizona.
  • E! Online picked her for its "Sizzlin' 16" list of 2002.
  • She was on the covers of the July 2003 issue of 'FHM', the May 2007 issue of 'Stuff'.
  • In the movie 'Banshee' she performed her own stunts. "I got hurt one day during one of the chase scenes, where another car crashed into my car".
  • Manning's dream role would be in a musical like Moulin Rouge!, because she "grew up dancing".
Pictures:

She has a thread here, so just a few illustrative pictures, and as usual any follow ups, including biographical details which are not relevant to this thread or post, to her fan thread please.

Default Actress: Barbara Payton: Part 3

Occasionally, I follow up with additional information, or just extra pictures on a 'deserving' girl ... particularly if they have no thread, or its a weak existing thread. So despite the fact that this lady now has a small thread, as she is one of my favourite posts, and I 'discovered' her, I feel I have a proprietorial right to post more pics here (and let them 'nick em' later ) .. so here we are, one last posting.

Something about this girl Original Post is here, and Part 2 Here:

Default Actress: Jean Seberg

Jean Seberg was born in Marshalltown, Iowa and studied at the University of Iowa. Despite her only acting experience being a single season of summer stock performances, a neighbour entered her in a $150,000 talent search being run by the director Otto Preminger for the lead part the film of 'Saint Joan'. She was the winner being chosen from the 18,000 hopefuls.

Oops, that was a mistake:

The publicity this "Pygmalion experiment" generated was enormous and Seberg commented that she was "embarrassed by all the attention", and typically the film and Seberg received poor notices when it was released. Preminger cast her again in his next movie 'Bonjour Tristesse' but Seberg again received atrocious reviews, and the film nearly ended her career ... still, all the girls here share one thing, perseverance.

So fleeing the US and its critics, she arrived in the UK, and was cast to play female love lead against Peter Sellers in 'The Mouse That Roared', which was a moderate success. Ah well, we all know that the suggestion of knicker dropping was always a short cut to fame in those days, so Seberg moved to France, where she scored success as the 'free-love' heroine of French New Wave films .... Still 'À bout de souffle' brought her acclaim, with François Truffaut even hailing her "the best actress in Europe."

She eventually went back to film in the US and she starred opposite Warren Beatty in 'Lilith' in 1964, which prompted the critics to acknowledge Seberg as a serious actress and restored her US reputation. However being later cast in the musical 'Paint Your Wagon', was a bit dumb because she had to be dubbed. Her last US film appearance was in the TV movie 'Mousey' in 1974. Seberg remained busy in films during the 1970's, amassing 36 titles, but mostly in European films.

She had suddenly stopped acting in Hollywood films, reportedly, she was not pleased with the roles she had been offered, some of which, she noted, 'bordered on pornography' ... the 'free love' films haunted her. But the conspiracists think that the FBI had engineered her being 'blacklisted' ... this from her wiki page gives a clue as to their thought patterns. 'No conclusive evidence of a 'blacklisting' exists, yet this is fairly normal, as such blacklists are usually secret' .... No shit Sherlock .... so report that there was a conspiracy, and no need for any evidence to back it up as its usually secret .

Politics and Death:

During the late 1960s, Seberg provided financial support to various groups supporting civil rights, and became involved in anti-war politics. She was the alleged target of an undercover campaign by the FBI to discredit her because of her 'association' with several members of the Black Panther party. One stated FBI subsidiary objective was to "cause her embarrassment and serve to cheapen her image with the public", while taking the "usual precautions to avoid identification of the Bureau". FBI files show that she wiretapped for a period.

Released FBI records showed that J. Edgar Hoover himself kept U.S. President Richard Nixon informed of FBI activities related to Jean Seberg ... although this could have been prurient interest by Nixon .... he could have been a fan.

The FBI were also said to have spread the rumor about her second pregnancy being a child by a Black Panther movement leader. But she later confessed that it was with a revolutionary student .... during that pregnancy she attempted a suicide. On every subsequent anniversary of her daughter Nina's death, she attempted suicides.

She was using drugs, although its not known whether it was an addiction, but in February 1978, she wrote and published an open letter to drug addicts' in the daily paper Libération: In 1978, she somehow survived a suicide attempt, after throwing herself under a train on the Paris Metro.

She married three times to older men, having one son who survived, but she also gave birth to a daughter (the product of an extramarital affair she had with a revolutionary college student), the child died two days after her birth as a result of her overdosing on sleeping pills during her pregnancy.

Although being still married to Dennis Berry, she went through a form of marriage on the 31st of May 1979, to an Algerian gigolo, but the ceremony had no legal force (it may have been a quasi religious 'Misyar' ceremony practised by some arabs), and after he got her to sell her Paris flat (he allegedly pocketed the 11 million francs in cash this generated), they went to Spain to start a bistro, but she was soon back in Paris, alone, and went into hiding from him, and she said he had physically and grievously abused her.

She was found dead under what some consider 'mysterious circumstances' in a Paris suburb in September 1979, but which could simply be a successful suicide (she had a history) .... the conspiracy theorists hate occam's razor, so they continue to speculate, and her precise date of death remains unknown as her body wasn't found until anything between 6 and 11 days after she went missing (reports vary), which just adds to the conspiracy theories. The police reported that a massive overdose of barbiturates and alcohol was the cause of death, and a suicide note was found. She was 40 years old.

Conspiracy theories continue and hang on the following:
  • Known FBI harassment.
  • The 6 to 11 days body not found in car.
  • How had she operated a car with that amount of alcohol in her body?
  • Why wasn't she found with the corrective lenses she needed for driving?
All answerable .... e.g. She didn't get drunk until she parked the car (after all she must have chosen a quiet spot for the car not to be found for several days!) ... but it won't stop the stories circulating on the web. Jean Seberg's family continues to blame the FBI smear campaign for her death.

Quotes:
  • "I have two memories of Saint Joan. The first was being burned at the stake in the picture. The second was being burned at the stake by the critics. The latter hurt more. I was scared like a rabbit and it showed on the screen. It was not a good experience at all. I started where most actresses end up."
  • "I never knew until I came here [Hollywood] that somebody could be really nice to you for years and really hate your guts. Happens all the time here."
Trivia:
  • Seberg was François Truffaut's first choice for the central role of Julie in 'Day for Night' but, after several fruitless attempts to contact her, Truffaut gave up and cast British actress Jacqueline Bisset instead.

She has a thread here already, so just a few illustrative pictures, and as usual any follow ups, including biographical details which are not relevant to this particular thread or post, must go to her fan thread please

Default Musician & Actress: Zoë Lund

Zoë Lund (b. Zoë Tamerlis), was born to a Swedish mother and Romanian father in New York City. She briefly attended the Manhattan School of Music but she left college as a political activist after 2 months, having been involved in a student liberation organization. She was also an accomplished composer/musician, but was interested in composition for films rather than recordings. So not unnaturally she gravitated towards Edouard (Yves) de Laurot, a film maker and critic, with a history of political activism dating back to 1939 in Warsaw, Poland, and she became his personal assistant and lived with him.

Although she harbored no aspirations of becoming an actress, her first professional work was accredited to her birth name, Zoë Tamerlis, when at the age of eighteen she accepted the starring role in Abel Ferrara's second film, 'Ms.45', in which she played a mute (which kinda helps if you can't act). This film, and its cult success, allowed her to appear in a number of films. Perhaps the most well known of these was 'Bad Lieutenant' starring Harvey Keitel, for which also co-wrote the screenplay, and in all she was associated with 10 films.

She was also a professional model in her 20s, and she also gained TV credits under her belt, when in 1985 she did a guest spot on an episode of "Miami Vice", and in 1988 played in a recurring part in the series 'Hothouse'. She was working on a biographical screenplay of supermodel Gia Carangi's life at the time of her death, and she appeared posthumously in the documentary 'The Self-Destruction of Gia'. She met Robert Lund, and married him in 1985, and she died in Paris on April 16, 1999.

Practising What She Preached:

She was an ardent supporter of the right to use of illicit drugs, and outspoken when it came to any attempts to control drug trafficking and needle distribution. She referred to 'heroin' as her "drug of choice", and was a staunch advocate of using the drug to increase self-awareness and to gain personal insight.

In the postshumously released documentary "The Self-Destruction of Gia," she candidly discusses her heroin use but was less candid that she had in fact replaced this with Cocaine as her 'drug of choice' .... This occurred when in September 1996, while acting as a "downtown street expert" for a documentary entitled "Heroin", Zoë recruited an addict who was later sent to detox. Ironically Ms Lund was probably as much a junkie as the addict, but was hiding it better.

She became involved with the addicts boyfriend, and despite being married, in February 1997 she had moved to Paris, France, to live with him. During this time writing appeared to take a back seat to drugs, as her writing muse and inspiration, heroin, was replaced by cocaine .... a bad move, as this chemical drug and her heavy usage from 1997 to 1999 caused her heart to fail ..... autopsy heart failure due to extended cocaine use.

Trivia:
  • Height 5' 7" (1.70 m)
  • Wrote a screenplay for a biopic of adult film actor John Holmes, which was to have starred Christopher Walken in the lead.
Pictures:

She has no thread here, so a few illustrative pictures but she might stand a thread if anyone wants to start one .....
