Hot Gossip [Moved]

Arlene Phillips came to London to learn and teach developing American Jazz dance routines. Employed as a dance teacher, she taught at locations including the Pineapple Dance Studios and the Italia Conti Stage School.

In 1974, Arlene started forming the core of a troupe;
Hot Gossip spent two years performing in a London night club where Arlene developed the group's dance act.

The Kenny Everett Show

Hot Gossip were spotted by the British television director David Mallet, he invited Arlene to make Hot Gossip a regular feature of The Kenny Everett Show, which he directed for Thames Television on ITV. The show ended in 1981.

In 1978, during their initial impact period on The Kenny Everett Show, Hot Gossip made their only hit record.................. "I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper".
A disco song which featuring future West End/Broadway star Sarah Brightman on lead vocal, it cashed in on the media hype surrounding the original Star Wars film.
As a result of the track reaching number 6 in the British music chart, they went on to record an album in the early 1980s, Geisha Boys and Temple Girls, produced by the former Human League member Martyn Ware.
The album was a commercial failure.

Sarah Brightman was a member of Hot Gossip for a while till she went on to bigger and better things.

Im guessing that this pic is from 1976 .. maybe just before
Sarah joined Hot Goss ? ... she joined in 1977
Davina Sheffield is sitting on the floor next to Sarah
Davina Joined Hot Goss at the same time as Sarah

In 1981 Sarah auditioned for Cats and really hit the big time.

The first 2 are from the Kenny Everett Video Show Annual 1980.

The last 2 are from the 1981 Annual.

2 Annuals and only 4 pics - Bummer

Donna Fielding....... Davina Sheffield...... Debbie Ash...... and Sarah Brightman
would have been brilliant as the core of Hot Goss ... ITVs resident dance group
and they could have given the BBCs .........Legs and Co a run for their money.

But it did nt happen, Sarah B left and Hot Goss became a mish mash of different dancers.
