I always liked Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics (or Laff-A-Lympics as it was otherwise known) full of many of Hanna-Barbera's best cartoons post Tom & Jerry, but with some names we'd not heard of in this country before. Whilst watching re-runs recorded from late night showing on Boomerang here a few years ago, I did notice that the opening title sequence was different to the US opening. Here is began with the fanfare and Snagglepuss saying
"Heavens to hilarity welcome to the greatest array of sportstars Laff A Lympics featuring an around-the-world triple team competition between...the Yogi Yahooeys, the Scooby Doobies, and the Really Rottens. The players are on the field, in the stadium even, so let's get on with it...Laff-A-Lympics!" Well something like that if my memory hasn't let me down. I have a few episodes on a compilation video but recently I found two tele-recordings on cassette tape I had made many years ago as I used to like to listen to them during the Summer when it was too hot to sleep at night.

Rentaghost was quite good, once you got a bit too old for it and realised it was being played with tongue firmly in cheek.

Bagpuss is the king of them all for me.
However, honourable mentions go to Trumpton, Simon And The Witch, The Queen's Nose and Peppa Pig. |
