If the first image is supposed to be Angela Merkel, is the second image also her?

Yes. Quite a little sensation then, these pics. Although nudism was quite popular in East Germany.

From the pictures you'd have to say that they are almost certainly the same person, but the question is whether it is Merkel.

Apparently the first picture was published in a Swedish nudist magazine in the 1950's, and Merkel was born in 1954, so wouldn't have been 18 until 1972.

Also, the pictures seem to have first come to light on April 1st...........

I wasn't sure whether the first image was Merkel or not. I didn't know the history of the image at all, nor that it was first published in the 50's. You're probably right that it isn't likely to be her anyway, but thanks everyone who commented for your input.
