Ahh, what the heck. What can one more war in the Middle East hurt? The US has plenty of money and more than enough bodies (too many really) so lets go for it. Send everybody and their brothers over there.

Well, people who go around chopping off the heads of US citizens and making gloating murder videos are always likely to receive return post. That's the way things work in life. This is basically a blood feud.

It's a madness. But a very specific type.

My understanding is that Saudi TV shows head removal (and the occasional crucifixion) every week. Most of these Islamic countries have cultures that are seriously alien in their outlook to anything in the West.

Dave Lee Travis has been given a suspended gaol sentence(yes I know it is jail but I am a traditonalist ) and he had a go at Camilla Long, a rather tasty Sunday Times journalist, who has spoken out about an alleged attack he carried out on her some years ago. He says that he is mortified that he was convicted on one count yet acquited of all the others and only his family & friends know the real him. Personally, I think he is lucky that these were 'historical' offences as were they done today he would almost certainly be locked up. I don't however feel you can lump him in with Stuart Hall & Jimmy Savile because they were crimes against vulnerable children rather than adults. He says he is a broken man.

On a lighter note it looks like summer is still reluctant to say goodbye but I just hope that it makes up it's mind because my whole family have suffered with colds, coughs and other ailments thanks to this unseasonably warmer weather. I have to say I also haven't seen any giant spiders but my father did go conkering and picked up some real beauties which are scattered around the floor downstairs. It is said that conkers can keep spiders away but nothing has actually been proven.

Mind you, it's just under 40 years ago, 1977 in fact, that France had the death penalty by guillotine. France did not formally abolish the death penalty until 1981.

Well I have to say that this news has greatly distressed me

An anonymous source - said to be "familiar with North Korea affairs" - quoted by the South Korean news agency Yonhap, said he understood Mr Kim was "suffering from gout, along with hyperuricemia, hyperlipidemia, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure".
The agency said some people attribute the deterioration in Mr Kim's health to frequent drinking and overeating.

No doubt his adoring populace who must be well used to shopping in overstocked supermarkets full of the best produce the world has to offer will be feeling very sad.

Despite the lack of recent footage of Kim Jong-un, he has not entirely disappeared from televisions tuned to Central Television.
Viewers get a daily dose of archive footage of months-old inspection visits along with an enthusiastic voice-over, usually in the hour leading up to the main evening news.

Good to hear that I'd hate to think they were missing out on the wit and wisdom of Chubbins Jr
