Sovereign Citizens in USA.
Lets talk about Sovereign Citizens in the USA.
I have seen a shitload of videos with Sovereign Citizens getting in trouble with the law-enforcement. In almost all videos they scream "I do not concent" or something similar when things go bad for them. Why? Do they really think the cop will release them just like that? Does anybody on this forum have any experience with these people?

I saw a guy once who tried to convince me that I did not have to pay taxes, not have a license plate on my car, refuse to consent to being an American citizen.
He said we could claim to be free born Americans and not comply with any government law. I thought he was a nut case and walked away. That guy who blew up the Oklahoma City Federal Building was one. He got caught because the car he drove in had no license plate. Timothy McVeigh - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timothy_McVeigh There are videos of them killing police officers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJNakPflLFQ Pretty much, if you own anything and want to keep it, stay away from them. If you have nothing to lose, want to not pay taxes and live under the radar - this would be a bad choice for you to follow. I can't see anyone being a productive member of society following their example. Here is a video of them in court - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InTr2i3JqEE |

This phenomena is not limited to the USA. Here in Germany the "Reichsbürger" (see rationalwiki) have similar claims. The government is not lawful, it is a limited company, if I say some magic words I do not have to pay taxes, etc.
Before the Internet these were just some lonely cranks. But now they are able to connect, exchange ideas and encourage each other. Thus I think they are more dangerous now. Last edited by halvar; December 9th, 2017 at 11:05 AM.. Reason: typo |

A phenomenon I've encountered in the UK too. A guy at work about 10 years ago told me he was claiming to be one and it had something to do with it being legal if you refused to be a subject of the Queen.

I recall something else now. As I was walking away he started to shout that he did not have to have a driver's license. A driver per some dictionary was a person paid to drive someone else around. Since he did not get paid to operate a vehicle, he was not a driver.
I believe I started to accelerate to get away from him as he kept on ranting similar arguments. |

I think some people were not beaten hard enough or often enough when they were children and have grown up thinking they can do anything they please and everyone else is only there to clean the toilet after they have dumped. These "sovereign citizens" sound to me like people who urgently need to be thrashed with carpet rods at least once every day and twice on Sundays.

A buddy from my school days had his own sect in this regard. Crazy guy.
As far as I know, it's just about tax avoidance schemes for imbeciles. It is amazing how many academics get involved. He fled to a certain sunny land without extradition treaty after draining a few lousy millions from them with false promises. You've got to hand it to him. He learned capitalism very quickly. |

I've seen a few of these videos too. One in particular on YT had some guy first refusing to show any ID, while stopping at a DUI checkpoint in the USA, then ramped up his stupidity by saying he was carrying a concealed pistol too, for which he was also going to refuse to show the license.... No matter how much the calm police officers tried to reason with him, explaining that to be allowed to drive a vehicle on public roads he needed to prove he'd passed a test & therefore held a license, he just wouldn't budge. I got bored before they turned to the issue of him also having a concealed weapon, but I'm sure it didn't end well for the moron......
